88 sr 5 my adventure begins

I've driven Toy's for the last 20 some odd years. First was a 89 4x4 pu 22re all stock, then 94 xtra cab 4x4 22re really miss that one! now 04 Tacoma 4x4 xtra cab 4cyl, my wife started out with a 99 4runner that we now have updated with a 2010 Trail Edition 4runner in light blue. My Dad started this Toyota thing back in the 70's when he would buy an sedan model Toy for cheap usually not running, rebuild the head or do a valve job, use the thing for a few years then sell it for more than he paid for it! So now my boys are older and I'm not working side jobs all the time, my wife is back to work. And my house is done (mostly). I've had jeeps along the way and told the boys that we would get one one day. But somewhere along the line I remembered the first generation 4 Runners, more civilized than a jeep and we've probably driven over 550,000 miles relatively problem free as a family with our Toys. So that being settled I stared to look. NJs winters make it so that these trucks disintegrate due to rust issues over time. Searched c-list obsesively, no luck, started to branch out accross the US desparately trying to find one, trying to justify flying out and driving it back. My c-list o.c.d paid off though and I found one about 45 min away! never had this happen before, owner let me take it, drive it home no deposit etc he said he trusted me! Paid him the next day. He was willing to negotiate to $2200 1988 SR 5 V-6 180,000 mi unmolested. The adventure begins. Sorry having trouble uploading pic's I'm exceeding file size can anyone help?

Use photobucket for the pics, and then only then will the true adventure begin.

So far I tuned the truck up,removed and cleaned the interior and gunked the engine compartment and did a complete rear brake job including wheel cylinders. I thought it curious that the drums were rusted inside, and when I tried to bleed the system I found that no fluid was passing thru. To the forums I went and learned about the LSPV. Took it apart, cleaned it up and then had fluid coming out of the wheel cylinders! Just basically went thru the truck and came up with a list of needed parts. I was able to buy the truck because the po couldn't open the tailgate since the window wouldn't open. He used the truck to get supplies for his restaurant. I got lucky he had gotten a junkyard motor that didn't work as well! he lost interest after that. Found a rear window motor that worked attached to a better gate than I had on c-list also got a gray dash altimeter from the same guy.

Found this truck on c-list originally a florida truck. It was totaled but meticulusly maintained by po. It will provide me with rear 1/4 panels, front fender, perfect tailgate, shocks, rear bumper, front end parts and all of those hard to find missing fasteners. To offset the cost I will part out what i'm not using on yotatech shortly.
