Dude, ...yer stuff is SICK! lol. Out of curiosity.. you planning on ever doing the body, etc.? Doesn't matter, cuz it looks great with the war wounds it has... Seen MUCH worse, lol. Plus, some don't like to have them all sparkly, lol. I just wondered if it was a part of your plan, SOME DAY, ya know?

I probably wouldn't do body work on it, either.. but sometimes, we run out of things to scratch, as far as 'THE ITCH' lol... and then one day, the Hillbilly picks up a sander, starts researching, and then next thing, it's show room condition! hahaha.

I LOVE that truck, not saying it needs it... just thought I remembered him mentioning it one day... His Truck and Yotarob2005's are 2 of my fav's! lol. OH, yeah, .... 85GIJUNK, TOO!

Sup, GI? I hear ya.. I'd love to turn it into a "Scotty's Offroad Show Truck" if I could.... lol... Just can't afford it. But I'm very happy for now! lol. (Oh, and I meant the 85... that thing is a BATTLE WAGON! Love how it keeps running. You should call Top Gear and tell them,... "Meh, that thing you drove in the ocean? Aint got nothing on this!" lol

Can't wait to see more pics, HB!

its been my dream to get my truck on top gear....and they can park it next to the red one for the episode i'll settle for an article in toyota 4wd owner though...

and hillbilly, you gotta get us a detailed writeup of how you like it, the cost, the time it took, before and after comparisons, reccomendations etc. etc. all complied into a paragraph or two

that way i can make my decision....the thing thats stopping me is my 85 has a solid axle, and i love just romping my truck through ruts, it eats any bump you throw at it....but then again blazing trails, and clumbing stumps, logs, downed trees, rocks etc. is its weak point.

so far i love it. rides almost as smooth as my IFS did, until i hit a bump. then it wakes you up haha. i really havent been able to wheel it, just taken it on some back roads. i do miss being able to go fast on them roads though

lets see

f/r 3" springs from a buddy- $120
rear shackles/mounts/u-bolt flip kit..~$200
axle rebuild kit w/ wheel bearings- $175
skys SAS kit minus wheel spacers, springs, axle rebuild kit (got it from marlin) and brake rotors (from marlin as well)- $775
skys IFS hub kit- $230
FJ-60 rotors- $100
IFS box mount- $55
axle- $250
driveshaft that i dont have yet- either $100 bucks to get it extended or $500 for a new one. i will need to clearance the CV on the driveshaft which is a pain in the ass

a week of hard work to get it all together- priceless

total- $2005 more than i thought

only thing i am disappointed with is skys ifs hub kit. only because the bolts they supply to attach the rotor to the hub are ALLEN BOLTS ??? ??? what the hell? who uses allen bolts? one of the bolts already backed out and rubbed on the caliper badly. destroyed the bolt. this was on the first day i drove it and i was SUPER pissed that i had to tear the axle down again. when i get back home im tearing it down, and either putting loctite on there or getting REAL bolts.

but i know im going to LOVE it rock crawling. i cant wait to go!

I would 'THINK', just guessin, that the Allens, much like many other applications, allows MORE clearance because it can even be recessed/bolt heads when not recessed don't have to come out as far? Either way, ....try a lil locktite? I would not wanna deal with that, no wonder you were PO'd after all that work! lol.

Far as the bumps.... HOLY COW, MAN... With all new Bushings, spacers, new shocks, etc., .... I do love the IFS, and on the WASHBOARD? holy heck! LOL. But sure, if I wanted to REALLY crawl into some stuff...... ! You're good to go, now... aside from some 'less comfortable wheeling in certain sitch's...' ... it's one HELL of an upgrade! That's what I call commitment, man! lol.

Once again, LOOKS GREAT, HB... can't wait till you get to show it off at College, roll up on some 22" rim idiots Titan wheels or something! lol.

thanks hilbilly!! thats the only thing i'll miss about the IFS is just hittin ruts or a mudhole and givin it hell. if i did that in a sfa rig i'd end up upside down in the passengers seat.

the thing that really P's me off is the truck cant climb for Sh. Its a pain in the neck to veer off trail because you get hung up on the first stump. and even my 85 could climb all over that stuff. I'm not into rock crawling though, and i dont even know where to go rock crawling around here, but flex and articulation are very much needed to get places.

where im from, the ideal rig is a rig that can get anywhere and everywhere on short notice, wether the ride is comfy or not

theres actually about half an inch of space between the back of the rotor and the inside of the caliper where the bolt was hitting. but yea, definitely throwin some loctite on there. and i cant even imagine how smooth that must be! oh and i cant wait to bring it here either haha
