Its alive and has tasted dirt

She had her first taste of dirt today. I had the please of being invited over to a friends property in Pungo to go play in the mud. I think she liked it. Unfortunately I haven't driven an open open truck in years. There is a little bit of a learning curve. I have the Aussie for the rear sitting on the work bench. I really need to install it.

Requisite poser shots:

I picked up a passenger:

My truck was probably the least capable out there. But it probably attracted the most attention.

Had the 4runner out for the V4WDA run at Oakridge Estates. I was a fun ride, but not all together successful. I'm going to start another thread in the tech section about it. The trucks performance was strange to say the least.

First, I have no brakes going down hill. Up hill and level the brakes work great. They will lock the tires at 60 if you step on them and there is good pedal feel. My gut feeling is this is the load sensing valve. I had the system open when I did the Aussie locker. I bleed all four wheels and the load sensor and it seemed good.

Second related to the first. I have zero compression braking going down hill. Honestly I've never wheeled an auto so I don't know if this is normal or not. It just seemed strange. Between the brakes and this I ended up in a very bad situation and almost rolled the truck. Not fun without a good cage.

Finally going uphill I have no power. The engine revs, but it is not even trying to spin the tires. Level ground it works great. It will do 60 on the highway. Add a hill and its just gutless. I was low on fluid, I added fluid and it is still the same. I'm also not getting a good positive engagement of 4 low so I'm thinking it may not be dropping into 4 low. Its on the trailer now, I'm going to drop the pans this week and have a look around.
