302 v8 build factory tach hookup.

I have a 90 pickup that I put a built 302 in. I put a cdi box in it and ran the tach wire from the cdi box to the factory toyota tach but nothing happened. How can I get the tach to work?

i have used dakota digitals tach interface on swaps before had lots of different input and output options. would probably work, although i haven't used one on a Toyota so i can't say 100%
