i have never witnessed anything like that, although i have reaad/heard. What makes something like that happen...maintenance...neglect. I bet rods go thru aluminum like butter.

This is one of my rods peeking out from my 300zx engine.

I found a 2nd life for it in the living room

lol
This is the result of, bad maintnence + advanced timing + boosting = detonation, crushed rod bearing and a scratch in the oil pan...

Yeah they do. And I have seen them come through the top of the block just not as bad as that one. I even have a few pictures of one I'm sure

There are so many people who put um in the subaru wrx's an spin off 1st or 2nd. It moves week link back from the clutch to the tranny.

I didn't notice this post earlier, but yeah, you are right. I can't tell you how many WRX transmission we have replaced for that very reason.

I ran an Exedy Cerametallic twin disc in my STi, but that 6 speed was nearly indestructible. I left my axles as the weak point, especially with 438whp. (They were the "cheap" part, )

Yeah those trannys are pretty much bomb proof. I had one come with a complaint of vibration after launching it off the line at bandimere speed way. He bent both rear cv's and twisted the rear diff about 15 degrees in the rear subframe it was sweet. So how is ur runner coming along dunkin. I'm planning on getting my runner in the shop next week to do the lift and hang the motor.

I have driven it in and out of the shop for the last two days. I should be getting the radiator back tonight from being modified, then I can make the hoses and fill her up with coolant! I'll order some fans once its in and I can take some more measurements.

Just checking things off the list every week!

well i i did that knock sensor. well the check engine light stayed off for about an hour. bummer. but never the less it runs and he can drive it.

but here is an update on my runner got the flywheel back. all i need is the clutch. and i got the body lift in.

i tell you what having a lift to do this makes things mugh easier.

now i need bigger tires
removed the the factory steering shaft plate. i didnt get the picture on the new one i put in that lowers the hole in the fire wall. i sealed it up with some dumb sumb. sorry for the no pic guys.

and i just have to extend the fuel filler neck and vent. then all set. i hope i can hang the motor on thursday. i wish i could do it tomarrow but i gotta put a motor in another car. darn.

I wish I had a lift like yours. Great progress man. Are you gonna get the big clutch from Marlin?

Nice, nice.
I had my starter rebuilted for about 100$. Definetly worth it. New bearing, brushes, paint etc. Pain in the rear to change it so i did it before installing the engine in the truck.

I'm just gonna do the contacts. Still on a budget. If I have to pull it it will be easier then pulling a 3.0. And I have a bag of coppers in my tool box. The heads on the other hand I'm not gonna risk.

Gotta love those Subie starter contacts failing all the time!

Hey, have you ever heard of http://www.superrupair.com/ in Boulder?

The owners of that business came out for a visit with us. I think we might be buying their dyno too. I guess they have 25 techs!
