It's probably too far(not sure where Kelso, WA is in relation to you... but maybe, right? Can't hurt to throw it out there, lol.

I'm not sure what you mean here^^^...

IF you mean, can you use a 'strange to you' crank from an 86 block on YOUR 86 block... you can... You need to see IF the machinist says that your rods can be used still. You'll possibly need the crank at LEAST resurfaced and then get the bearings according to whatever they have to do to the crank(20-20, 10-20, 20-30, whatever). Sometimes the rods attached to rod caps need to be re-rounded too.

IF, in fact, the post you made didn't mean to say "86" twice... well, then I'll wait and see, lol.

Best wishes on the parts hunt, man!

Ahhhh, ..... hehe... don't sweat it, typos happen LOTS, lol.

Well, this DOES pose a potential problem, as I remember... I'd have to check up on it...... But, as I remember, .........

The height of motor from deck to journals is different in 22R's under 84.... or 83, .... or 82? Can't remember which, ...I'll have to double check that in the Haynes for ya when I have time(Hopefully someone will chime in.... Just want to make sure you hold off on that until you're sure, ya know? I'm PRETTY sure the 81 is a different height block than the 86.

I have been following along. Not sure which way you want to go with the motor now, but just keep at it and little by little it will come togther. Great job.

Hey 86, .... Dutch is a user on here that is slapping in a celica motor.... EFI. The difference in THOSE at least is a few connectors, varying resistance on the injectors from the 82 celica and 87 trucks injectors(ECU issues/possible problems is the focus on that one, lol)

Between an 81 22r Truck motor and 82 Celica 22r? Not sure at all if there's much if any of a difference. Is the 82 Motor Carb'd???? I thought they were all EFI in the Celicas by that year... Anyway, bring on the pics, homie! lol. I'm curious on a couple of things regarding your swap/use of certain things, etc., ya know? Wanna log it in my nugget, that way I can tell people what will/wont work, ya know?

Best wishes, sounds like you're working fast!

It was a efi motor swapped to carb, but since I tore it down it looks exactly the same inside as the 81 22r truck motor, the only difference is the celica motor had single row timing chain and the other had dual row, so I'm gonna use the celica block, crank, rods, valvetrain head, and oilpan. I'm using the cam from the truck since its a brand new cralwer cam, and I'm using the valvecover from the truck since I painted it up good, and I'm using the timing chain stuff, and I'm using new pictons, rings, new seals

^^^ Gotcha!

One thing I'm curious about... Are you using the same rocker pads that have been riding on this "NEW CAM" you're speaking of? I think they have to be broken in to the CAM a lil bit, if I remember correctly(that's if you're even 'changin' rocker pads, lol)...

Great news, and you're haulin, man!

PICS, PICS, PICS! lol.... Jk, take your time, 86!

day 3 of 22r rebuild

so on day 3 i pulled the celica motor out of my truck and tore it down to a bare block, found the head was warped and a headgasket blown. taking the best parts of both engines and putting them in the celica block.
