Went wheeling with my buddy up at SMORR this past weekend. Man they have some rigs up there that make mine look like a Honda civic. Anyway, I collected all the a/c lines and got my in compressor. When I bought my rig the po had removed the old compressor and left some a/c lines open and exposed. Do you think I can flush and clean the dirt out of the condenser and lines with brake cleaner?

I am just checking in on your build. I am trying to get my ac working also and will be talking to some ac mechanics and will ask them for suggestions for cleaning lines.

One stop will be at Toyota as I have had 2 different mechanics say both of my lines are the high side.

Hey Jedi, ....welcome to Yotatech! You should probably start a thread on this, including pictures and such. I believe you have to make 10 posts in others threads before you can create one yourself.(guys?)... But you WILL get plenty of input... just be sure, as I said, to include plenty of pics..... As they say here, "PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!" lol.

Best wishes, .... sounds like a fun project.

************************************************** ****

Hoss, SOUNDS GREAT! I can't wait to see some more pics, speaking of those! lol. You have any of your trip with those moster crawlers? lol.

Great work, and great to hear you're enjoying it!

For a crawler, I'd just take your time masking off trim etc and spray paint it with a can. I used dupliclolor bed armor for my top and it turned out awesome.

Finally got the A/C blowing ice cold!! I replaced the compressor, dryer, a couple hoses, idler bearing and thought it was good to go but then noticed the expansion valve was permanently shut so I bought and installed a new one. Now it blows 45 degrees when it's 105 outside. Pretty damn good. Thanks to Mr. Freeze, David peacock, in Austin for performing the surgery on my rig. Highly recommend his services if you live in central Texas.

Oh, got my sliders welded on too. I know I know, CHEF, pics are coming.......

Now I have to figure out this freaking steering. All the work I've put into it, I expect and want tight steering and I know going high steer will help but I only have 2 in of lift. I know socal85toyota put high steer on his 2 in lift but did some shackle and drive line mods. I wonder if using a drop drag link from pro comp will help until I can get the $1000 it's going to take to get high steer? Does anyone know if the drop drag link helps?

Hahahahaha.... Hey, I'm just speaking for those of us with Toyotamaniaticulitus! WE JONES FOR PICS! hahaha. Actually, they're good markers for the build threads, too, ya know?

Wish I could help on high steer, etc., but I'll watch and learn, how's that? lol.

Anybody out there have a working vacuum switching valve for sale?
It's the little black switch on top of a 22re valve cover that has two small vacuum hoses running to it and a two wire electrical connection. Need one.

Dude, that thing is SICK!

PS> To rotate the pics, just click on "edit" in Photubucket, over each pic, then click 'rotate clockwise or counter clockwise', whichever you need, and then click 'REPLACE ORIG.', then save. It will turn them upright, cuz that's hurting my neck and I MIGHT WANNA STARE FOR A BIT! hahaha.

PSS> The VSV you're speaking of is for the AC..... and I have and extra one, but the plastic things broke off! GRRRR! lol. Secondly, I don't think it worked.....

Ordered a new vsv from Toyota for only $28. Installed and ac I perfect.
I have the fix the front wheels rubbing on the rear part of the front wheel wells. I know socal85toyota has the same setup as me but longer shackles. I just don't see how that keeps them from rubbing. Hmmmm

28$ for an OEM/NEW VSV? ..... I think it's partially my issue with idle up failure, ..... maybe all of my issue, lol. However, I'm going to also dig in the dash to find that box that we can adjust to keep the cycle times better for more CHILLY/BETTER IDLE! lol.

Yep straight from the dealership. Call them. I get a little discount but if it's the same part number as mine it should be around $30.

You can test yours really easy. Leave your truck idling and turn on the ac. Then pull the two tubes off the vsv and push them together. Your idle should increase. Also check to see if your vsv is getting electric to it. Could be bad wiring.

Also, if you've never pulled the box out behind the glove box, it's probably totally dirty and possibly clogged. It's basically a radiator looking thing but leaves and dirt collect in there.

Thanks, homie! Yeah.... There's another test with the VSV where you can switch the hoses and the basket will 'SQUEEEEEEEK' lol... Like a hissing sound, letting you know it's on backward, lol. Of course, that DOES NOT mean it's working as it should, I concur.

Wow, .... with my luck I bet rats have made a 3 story condo in there! lol. JK, ...I'll check that out. I'm just talking about the module on the front of the box that allows you to dial it up or down for more cycling or less, right?????? lol.

PS> I get 20% off at Dealer as well lol.

Did you ever get your steering figured out? I could sure use some tips with my own '85 T4R and about 2" of lift, similar to yours...
