I dont have an air ratchet or an air compressor lol. Maybe Now would be a good investment to get that. Rather than getting a new oil pan. Idk...

you dont need an air rachet, just easier on the ol' arm. a standard 3/8" rachet will do, maybe with a breaker bar and PB blaster?

Exclamation Help

Ok sorry for no updates....been busy at work. So the oil pan was taken out, and a brand new one was put in. Some new oil...some new plugs, oil filter etc. Ran awesome....until a couple of days ago when my brand new battery died. Anybody know what the wire that comes from the fuse box under the hood to the battery is called?? i need to replace that but have no clue what the heck you call it. I'm like 95% sure thats what drained my battery even when my truck was off etc. So i had to charge my battery but i need to get that replaced. PLUS.....another bad thing....gas in my oil. I first noticed because my exhaust started smelling kinda funny...then i noticed a lot of black residue inside my exhaust pipe...then...i checked my oil and wow...lot of gas in there. i dont know if that can be due to overfilling the tank but i do know its either from gas spilling over the pistons into the crankcase...or something else. Any ideas? All i know is that tomorrow, i'm changing my oil because gas in oil is just ridiculous. Anyway, any ideas what that cable is called???? and a how-to maybe? thanks

So turns out my alternator was already about to die...picked one up and installed it last week before Christmas and its running great now. Took a solid four hours lol anyway, next up on my list is to take he truck in and get the engine rebuilt. Anybody know around how much rebuilds go for? Nothing too fancy just pretty much stock rebuilds

Ok guys, been super busy with work (( sucks that i cant be posting stuff up on here. anyway....i have a bit of a fuel issue. I filled up my tank about 45 miles ago, give or take a mile or two.....and it while it wasnt filled completely full, it was just about full. Anyway....43-45 miles later, i'm already at half a tank!! Arent these 17 gallon tanks? If so then that would mean im getting about 5 miles to the gallon?? where the heck is my fuel going?? I dont have any leaks....otherwise i'd be smelling gas. Maybe its getting in the oil?? Any ideas anyone? :/

check these things, sending unit, filter, fuel pump, is it only reading 1/2 tank on the gauge? Pull the dipstick and smell the oil then you can tell if its going into your oil
oh and SUBCRIBED

Been a long time since I've posted anything but quite a bit has happened. I sold my SR5.

NOT! lol I decided to give it a cheap, rustoleum (can) paint job as I didn't want to spend a nice price tag for a paint job that's most likely going to get scratched etc. I took off the bed to check the frame and cleaned it up, painted it etc. Sanded the body down all around the truck, (the hood was a pain in my ass) took out some dings and used to bondo here n there. Primed it, painted it....saved for later. primed the front of the truck, painted and put the bed back on. Success! A super cheap paint job done with cans of rustoleum. (gloss black)
Looks pretty damn good. So far its been 10 months since and its still looking pretty solid. I found a Light/roll bar that was too wide for the bed. Had double tubes on both sides of the rear bars. I wanted single ones so it was a win win. Saw zall, plasma torch and a few beers got the job done. the rear bars mount on top of the rear well. Cant wait to roll over so this thing can rip my bed to shreds lol Recently, I found a smittybilt bumper that I;ve been looking for forever already. Its a Kawasaki lime green and just finished prepping it for paint today. Gonna finish priming it tomorrow or maybe tonight, and painting it gloss black tomorrow morning. HAd to make 2 "L" brackets for it to mount. Next up is to wire 4 lights onto my roll bar. 55w each. Gonna see if my alt can handle it. If it dies, i'm planning on swapping it for a higher output alt. Still don't know which kind. Any ideas?? Next is to add a little bit of sound proofing in the cab. I don't mind it but when i'm driving around with the GF I cant hear a da,mn thing she's saying. Not that i'm paying attention to begin with hahaha. Looking for new side mirrors, (swing away) pass side power window motor with the switch, and new sr5 buckets. The sr5 seats in my truck suck. theyre a mix between a bench and a bucket. At least the drivers side is. Also looking for an 80s sr5 shift knob. Found one for $40-50 but the price isn't worth the shape that its in. I have Pictures of all this, and will upload shortly.

pictures of the updates i never posted on here through the months :(

First off, a couple of friends and I had to get a game of foozeball going at the shop.

First off was the roll bar that I bought off CL for $0. The guy selling it didn't have offroad friends and I had been the only person who contacted him about it. Plus it didn't fit in the truck so he just wanted it gone. Lucky Me

As you can see, its double tubes on the sides and the back. I wanted a double tube just like this, just not with doubles in the back. So upon inspection, i realized that if i cut off the outside tubes on the back, it would fit perfectly. Otherwise, i was gonna just cut off both from the top, then down the middle, and move the single bars in closer together and weld em. Didn't have to do any of that.

cut the rear tubes straight down the middle wish a saw zall, then used a plasma torch for cutting off....something haha cant remember. The angle grinder was used to smooth the razor sharp edges around the mounting plates from the cuts.

threw it on the back of the truck, to see if i was right about it fitting and behold, a perfect fit. Afterwards, i took off what was left from the tubes i had just cut off.

Had an old can of flat black laying around so i decided to spray it on just for kicks. I still needed to clean it up later on anyway. had some caked on stickers of rock bands.

Later on at home, i threw it on the back again so where i needed to drill. Couldn't have it flush on the back as i wouldn't be able to get to my strap hooks on the inside of the bed. but its still really close.
Marked and drilled for installation.

Next order of business was to spray on a bedliner. So i wanted to clean the bed of as much surface rust as possible. Remember, this has always been a southwest truck so the rust on it is minimal but the bed was full of deep surface rust towards the gate. Already started grinding it down with my angle grinder.

Break time. A texas staple, "Whataburger"!! Since 1953. Best burgers ever. And course some sweet tea.

While cleaning up the bed....I decided to give the truck a new paint job with a cheap rustoleum rattle can paint job. Seen a couple online and looked pretty good for the cheap price. I decided, why the heck not! So i took the bed and inspected the frame. Was amazing. very light surface rust that was cleaned up. The only thing bad was a ripped off piece of steel from the frame, on the left rear side, Who knows what happened. Wasn't really important though.

You can sort of see the left rear side of the frame that was ripped off. haha Later on, i'll fab a new piece and weld it on for when i get a smittybilt tube bumper. Cleaned up the frame, not even close to bad at all. Primed it, painted it.

Some more sanding, body work etc on the bed and break time!! Nothing tastes better while workin than a nice cold BUD. This was around the end of July hence the 4th of july label.

While sanding the hood down, the original blue paint and its glorious SR5 stripes started to appear. I almost wanted to cry when i saw the stripes cause it was so beautiful haha It was almost as if i came across some historic artifact. Definitely a cool moment for me.

After some body work, some wet sanding of the primer coat, sprayed on some gloss black. Again this was all cheap rustoleum paint from rattle can. Wanted to try it, was cheap and didn't want an expensive paint job YET, on something i was gonna have a little fun with.

The bedliner had already been sprayed on. Tried Rustoleum bedliner. Works pretty damn good actually. I think i needed 2 cans of that for the whole bed.

My license plate was later stolen. Don't know why they just took the back lol For some reason, i never got around to painting the tailgate haha That's actually in the process right now.

Later on, i finally had found the smittybilt bumper i had been looking for, on CL. Put it on just to see if it would fit, and my truck looked like the Gravedigger. This sat in my garage for months until i finally decided to clean it up and paint it. Had to make 2 "L" brackets to bolt on from the frame (where the stock bumper bolts onto) up to the bracket on the smittybilt.

My cousin almost forgot the beer. tsk tsk As you can see, i don't have the lower valance panel on. As with the tailgate, AND THE GAS DOOR i never got around to painting them when i had painted the truck in August of last year. haha

Now that we're all caught up. Next order of business is to get some new tires, maybe rims or just paint mine(black) install a higher output alt, Put 4 lights on top, 2 in front, paint my tailgate, valance, gas door, new shocks, still need to replace the inner seals on my front axle. Want sr5 buckets instead of the sr5 bucket/bench hybrid, some soundproofing, new carpet, a slush puppie machine to go in the back and a jet engine off an F-16.

Diggin' it!! Two questions;

1. That's a good amount of lift for stock tires, is that still the 2" lift that you had last year?
2. Did you paint the engine bay? I've been thinking about painting my truck, but I want the engine bay to match (OCD....)
