Casebite's 1985 xtra cab build(om617 inside)
#43
Some big updates: I got tired of my factory worn out(inverted) front leaf springs riding the bump stops so I installed some 3" lift leafs up front with 6" shackles/2" blocks out back, I also got started on my flatbed, and I'm installing some different seats as well. I will post some better pics very soon!

Your truck is looking great. I have an 85 extra cab as well, but am wanting to do the OM617 on my 86 runner. Currently have just been waiting for a Mercedes to pop up looking for a new home at the right price. When you did your syncros, it that something a shade tree machanic can do? I can do motors but have never done trannys other then clutchs, swaps and such. Subscribed to your thread. Great build.

Thanks for the comments! I downloaded the factory service manual when I tore my tranny down mainly to help keep track of everything, no real special tools to get to the syncros other than a good set of snap ring pliers. now if you decide to change some bearings out you definitely need a shop press.
I spaced the hinged part of my hood up so my engine runs cooler. It works great but does look weird.
