85 T4Runner's 1985 4Runner Build-up
So, I am in the middle of a buildup on my 85 runner and I figured it was about time I started a thread. I have been running this mostly stock runner for several years. Tearing it up on the trail and only fixing what breaks (mostly bumper and tank damage).
After wheeling the runner this last spring I figured it was about time to persuade my wife to let me spend a little money on a lift and a couple extras (just a couple).
What sounded like an easy build has now turned into a couple month adventure. I have been working on the truck at my brother's house mostly so finding time is a bit challenging. I have to admit that my brother is helping a lot too (thanks Connor), most of the weld jobs are his but I'm trying. I've been fairly good with the grinder though.
I'll post a couple more pics shortly.

Glad you finally started a build thread man! Now I can track your progress from the comfort of my chair! Still can't believe how long you wheeled that thing completely stock, better yet, how well it did. Keep the pics coming!

Working on the pics now, just trying to pull everything together. These are some of my pics of the front axle work.

Here's a picture with the rear mostly installed. We have just about finished the rear now. I will try to post additional pictures of the build when I have a chance to mess with the truck next.

So, we made a bit more progress today. The front axle was assembled today (thanks Connor). Got the tires on and pushed the runner out to the drive way.
Still have several items to go but getting the tires on and all of the vehicle weight on the axles feels like a big accomplishment.
Need to install front shock hoops, shocks, all steering components, brakes, front driveline, bump stops, and exhaust.
Here is a picture of the truck in the drive way, the 31"s look small now:

Front axle is shiny, I'm sure it won't last:

I realize now that I can't move pictures after I post the links. I thought about this briefly last night but I assumed the little technical hamsters in my computer would be able to figure out where the pictures moved to. I won't move them this time.

Worked on the steering box and shock hoops yesterday, thanks to Connor.
I can't wait to wheel this beast, hopefully all other parts now hold up.

do you have a pic of your current front shackle angle? the early one didn't look so good-granted it did not have the full weight of the truck on it and yes, the springs will settle somewhat...
