Didn't take too many pictures of the axle housing modification for the e-locker but there are several tech articles out there that we followed. The stock e-locker gasket was used as a template for marking the housing where we needed to grind.

Still need to wire the e-locker but that will be one of the last things I do.

 

I'll try to get a better pic when I mess with it next. The shackle is pretty much straight up and down now, I expect it to go back a few degrees when the springs settle. This is one item we were worried about when mounting the front hanger kit but it is in the correct position (flush with the frame) based on the instructions from All-Pro and looking at other trucks.

 

The steering box and shock on the driver's side are now mounted. Check out the latest pics:

A couple more pictures to add, the runner is now driving but I need to replace the driveshaft. Mounted the stock driveshaft but it now makes noise and vibrates at low speed due to the lift. Didn't think it would hold up but I wanted to try. I plan to replace the driveshaft with a CV next. Still need to weld up the front driveshaft and install rear bump stops too.

Looks good man! How does it ride with that front shackle angle? Sure has come a long way in a short time.

 

It rode good except for the driveshaft issues. Springs were fairly soft and the front shackle angle didn't appear to be too bad. Shackles were a couple degrees back and I am sure the angle will get better as the springs settle.

 

Just got done going through your build. You got the truck looking good.

 

Got the new driveline installed last week and I am now trying to break-in the gears. I've been driving the runner for a few days now.

The 31's look funny on the truck, I need to find some 35's now. I wasn't sure how 35's would drive so I asked 87 Deathtrap if I could try out his for a bit and he said yea (thanks Nate). We installed the tires and drove around the block finding a nice test rock. Below are a few pics, looks good with 35's.

Wow the 35s look perfect. Are those rims 8" wide or 10"?

 

They are Nate's 10" wheels but plan on running 8" wheels.

 

Great work on this thing! It is definately inspiring. Rides and flexes really well, gonna be unstoppable when those springs get broken in!

If you guys want some more practice before you start on the next build just let me know, I'll drop my truck off anytime.

 

Don't let his wife see that you mentioned a "next build". I "needed" a new vehicle, so we bought a 2010 Tacoma and when I started looking at mods for it on top of the 85 Runner I have she flipped her lid haha. Looks good though! I was just moved to Japan (in the Air Force) so all progress on both my rigs has ceased. Gives me time to save and plan though.

So we took the 4runner out for the first time after the lift. Just finished mounting the air compressor, and wiring the elockers. Thanks Connor and dad for helping with the elockers.
