I'm glad to see you back on the project. Whew, it WAS too hot to do much during a lot of this past summer! You do have a great history with that truck.

Ok, finally getting back around to this project.
Took the carb to a local carb specialist.
He looked at it and said he'd "TRY" to get it going again. It simply may have just set up too long and may need to be replaced.
We'll see. Should know in a couple of weeks.
He could get to it sooner, but the guy I'm getting to put it back on will not be ready for a couple of weeks anyways.
Been busy with family stuff..like buying my son a MINT condition 03 Jeep Grand Cherokee, I mean had prolly never been farted in. One owner..lil ole lady.., 96K miles. Beauty.
MINT.>>garage kept.
Then
2.5 days later a woman ran into it and totalled it.
Yes I'm glad eternally that neither he or my wife were hurt, just sort of bunged up.
Anyways...it's been busy lately but I'm getting plans (and funds) to get back to Dixie restoration.
Dixie...the south will rise again.

Weber 32/36 dgev is a great carb and can be had for around $240 for the kit just putting that out there so you don't waste money trying to fix one just a thought, and great truck man I'm working on a 82 as we speak there lots of fun

Got the carb on today!

Ok, well...ONE STEP CLOSER!!!!
(spoiler..it still won't run)
Got the carb rebuilt and back on today. Some vaccuum hoses aren't on yet, not sure where those go. (again, not a mechanic)
But I did get it on and then remembered the battery was probably dead...it was 7 years old.
New battery, rebuilt carb..and it still won't run.
IT WILL CRANK!! See the video, but putters out quick. Like it's only getting what's in the carb.
My mechanic buddy think's it's the fuel pump. so that's out next step.
Little by little.
It was really good to her her purr for at least a second though.

As I said, there are a couple or three vaccuum hoses not connected just yet. Not exactly sure where they go back. That maybe why it's just cranking and not running. I did d/c the fuel pump line to the carb and gas did come out of it. So...i dunno, work on it later.
And also, I wanted to say thanks for this forum's support. This was the first place I wanted to tell about the new carb.
So, thanks boys.

vacuum lines

I had made a post asking about where these vacuum lines go back, but I think I found a diagram online.

Looks just like em. If I remember right, mine had some red pinstripe or something on the outer edge of the rim. Dunno, been a long long time ago dood. LOL.
But yea, the spokes..that's them.
I'd sure like to find another set.

Yea buddy, that's them then. Where'd you find those at?

We're gonna look at it next week, but my mechanic buddy thinks the reason it will crank but not run is maybe the fuel pump. That don't look that difficult to replace. Actually, I think years ago, I did replace it.
Any other thoughts as to why it wont' stay running?

I got em for free from a buddies dad who had a yota just like yours but it had a huge lift, he got rid of the yota years ago but had the rims and 3 tires just sitting in his back yard. It was funny because just before I picked them up I saw your thread and was thinking to myself how much I like those rims you had , then to my surprise they were the same rims my buddies dad was giving me!

Ive only owned the v6 and 7mge motors so I really dont know ˟˟˟˟ about 22rs sadly, cant wait to see it running though

Great day. Carb on... New fuel pump. Got her purring again. Sweet sweet sound of success. Still LOTS to do, but this was a milestone. Lots of adjusting and tweaking to do.
She sure sounds great.
Good to hear her voice again.

This weekend change the oil, it had a little gas in it from the leak in the fuel pump...
Plugs, wires..filters of course. Already changed the fuel filter and probably will again since it's been sitting up awhile.
Then to work on the brakes and tires.
Then...just see what's next...
See what starts leaking or breaking from there.
She's pretty solid though.

Excited because today I ordered a dash to replace my beaten up old dash here:

I ordered this one:

Found it on Ebay. I called and talked to the parts manager there at Griffeth Auto in Oregon. He said they are OEM and he had 3, well, now 2.
I can get tires and other things, but that busted up dash has really ticked me cause I didn't think I'd ever find another one.
Not sure I'll cut out the defroster holes in the ends.

The dash probably would have cracked up anyways..but I was in college and the heater wouldn't come on, so in my college mind, beating on the dash seemed like the thing to do in 1986. Clearly, that, among some other things I'd done then, was a bad idea.
It'll be good to get that eyesore fixed.
