WarrBear's 83 Linked with 3RZ build-Up

Hey everyone,
Ive been a member for this forum for a while now but this is my first post. so figured I'd share what ive built to give ideas to you all and answer any questions for anyone trying to do the same thing.

well this is my 1983 toyota pickup delux, I got her about two years ago up here while deployed in Alaska, started off stock pretty much an all orig truck other then a quick paint job, 31 all terains and the flat bed. like most had just a little rust in the floor pans but everywhere else was flawless, and previous owner tried doing new wheel bearing up front and didnt have the right socket to tighten up the spindle nuts so needles to say i had to go back through it again. had a pretty good 22r in it but just wasnt enough power output.

After going on a few trails up here still stock, she performed great but new i wanted a pretty good trail rig. so about a year later during the winter she got parked into the garage to begin her complete over haul. accured everything here and there looking for all the deals, adn well this is what she turned out to be in the end. let me know what you guys think and if you got questions ill be glad to answer them. thanks for looking

Yeah, i havent made it past sutton. so not sure how they are up in your area bud. some of the trails are good, others I dont run becuase the galcier silt eats up alot of stuff in drivtrain.

Got most of the parts for the build stock pilled in the garage. I went with trail-gears 4 link, with 14" king coilovers , 5" leafs for front, there stinger bumper, dual T-cases, sliders, trying out the Warn VR10000 winch, 39.5 IROK's, i upgraded the front brakes to the Fj vented rotors, i have a tacoma housing with E-Locker in the rear, yukon 5.29's front and rear, Disc brake in rear, Kevlar clutch, the list could keep going as i post and ill throw in whats what. and the 3RZ from a 98 Runner.

the 39.5 Iroks, got a hell of a deal on these for up here!!

first day of the build!!!

few buddies helped that the flat bed off.

back in garge and cutting front end out from under her.

took everything off the back

smoothing down the frame rails,

cleaning up the axle, and getting ready to weld up the upper trus. also tacked on front spring hanger.

at this point we are tacking up the front spring hanger getting ready to start setting up to get our shackle angle.

we got everything hung up and started setting up the front to let weight sit back down on axle and gett an idea of our shackle angle. we took stands out from under frame and threw blocks under the axle. shook the truck up and down a few times then let sit for a while. axle angle checked out good. then we started welding up the front bracket.

if you noticed on the front theres two pieces of tubing. i had to make a bracket for my stinger. the stinger i bought is for a 2nd gen pickup. at the time trail-gear didnt off a stinger for 1st gens.

i used 2x3 and in this picture we are taking flat steel and welding it to the top of the tubing, then we marked the front where the holes in the bumper are and drilled out into the tubing so i can still bolt adn unbolt my stinger.

theres a few other braces and gusset we welded on behind teh bumper for extra strenght and was prob over kill. i dont need my bumper ripping off when im winching out.
