Talking Toyospearo's "ANOTHER 82 build" what was I thinking?!?!

I did it again.. DANG
I was on a scout for an upcoming bigfoot movie and I found this way down this remote canyon back in a guys yard.
I pulled into the driveway and saw this interesting blue colored longbed 1st gen. I showed some interest in it to the guy and he said "make me an offer." $450.00 took it.
It had not been started in 6 years and he told me he and his son couldn't get it started back then. He let me borrow a 19mm and I turned the crank a few times. The pistons were moving!
The radiator, plug wires, cap, battery, belts and THE KEY were all missing. The next day my girlfriend and I drove all the way back up there with the missing stuff hoping the guy found the key. He said he searched all night long and finally found it.
I put everything in poured in a few gallons of gas and sprayed some starting fluid in the carb and the thing fired on the second crank. I could hear a stuck valve and no muffler. The owner could not believe I got it started. He even made a bet with some friend of his at work that I would have to tow it out of there.
When I put it in 1st gear it popped out right away.
Yes, the tranny is no good.
I drove it home with half of the PVC grommet bouncing around inside the valve cover, no PVC valve ahhaha (yes it can be done) no muffler, almost no breaks, in 4 hi in second gear with no idle.
I am rebuilding it in a friend of mines barn.
So far - Tranny is shot. Yanked it and MSR (Mikes Specialty Repair) is rebuilding it.
Motor has 150 in 3 cylinders and 0 in the other - stuck or burnt valve. Motor is yanked and I am rebuilding it where I work General Machine.
Front end needs to be rebuilt
virtually no rust on the cab. Bed is another story.
Battery cradle rusted out
Inside the cab I found 3 dead rats and at least 10 dead mice and nests everywhere. 5 of those dead mice were in the fan blower motor and hoses.
Needs new top dash and panel, new carpet.
The guy had the seats rebuilt before he parked it. They are in perfect condition just a little stinky.
everything else is in decent shape.

Here we go again!!!

This is one of the few 1st gens I have ever seen around here that is virtually rust free on the body up front. No rust at all!
As for the underneath, new Old Man Emu front leafs and bushings with add a leafs in the rear to bring it up to level.
Everything else pretty much stock. I have parts left and right from other projects and at this point it looks like I can mix and match to get it built.
The lower valance was missing so I chopped the fenders and down the line it is getting a no stinger bumper.

are you serious $450 for that? Wow, just wow, I got to subscribe to this one as well.

And to think I am paying a guy $400 to refresh my rear section of my frame, if that thing was around here, well $450 would have gotten me that and it would have gotten my freshly well 15K rebuilt 22r in it and trans and be on my way. lol.

Awesome! That's cool you get to spend some quality time with your girl, and bring another Toy back from the dead. She's a keeper for sure, and the girl too.

Nice find! Love your other builds.

Where are you ordering your OME springs from? Are you using their shocks as well? Shackles? U-bolts? And what are you using for add a leafs in the rear?

My 79 is in need of some suspension help and I'm thinking I want to go that route, trying to figure out what the best setup is.
