thanks for the info on the radio. Priced them, not too bad.
Added to the infamous list of "wants"

I would not recommend putting a hand held ham radio in a rig unless you use out of the truck as much as you do in the truck. The sound quality, wattage, and easy of use is not near as good as a mobile unit. I only installed this rig because I was never using it as a handheld and I couldn't afford a mobile.
I have an older ICOM 207H in my other truck that I absolutely love. Great unit!

Good point...a ham radio is probably down the road a bit anyway, my company just announced how much our healthcare contribution is gonna go up on the first of the year, YIKES!! so that will cut into the $$ for parts for the truck

if I do end up with one, I will try to do the install in such a way that I can pop in in and out of a couple of different trucks.

Searched the ICOM 207H, it gets great reviews...not a one of them on ebay even, it shows up as vintage on one listing

thanks for the feedback

That is one beautiful truck, Spearo! DANG! Looks like it just rolled off the floor with some add-ons...even better! hahaha.

Great skills of restoration you have there, Spearo...

Here are a few photos of the rig. I wheeled it pretty good last week and I am amazed how the thing performs off road! It is no wonder Toyota built its reputation on these trucks.

A few new developments with the rig..
I was at the feed store this morning and they just got in a huge pile of horse stall mats from Tractor Supply 4' x 6'! Perfect for a bed liner and only $40.00
I had to cut to fit the wheel wells and the thing is perfect.. no more crap sliding all over the place!
Also mounted up my hi lift jack.
Pics are dark but thats been my life lately, get up before the sun and get home after the sun.

LOVE IT! I'm thinking of putting in the peg-mat in mine. It's light and I can use it for padding under my tent or when I sleep inside the runner... Nice find, D! Also, ANOTHER 'DAGNABBIT!'. hahaha..... because I really want to get 2 things... another Highlift(mine was stolen)... and I really need an alarm! But the latter is off topic, sorry! LOL. Just wanna minimize the chances of my ruby red gettin stolen, ya know? hehe.

Have a great Humpday, D, be safe up there!

OH I know chef! Damn theiven bastards. I had a rim and tire stolen right out of my yard. My dog bit whoever did it. I woke up to my dog growling and I let her out a few minutes later she was scratching at the door. I let her in and she had blood on her snout and it wasn't hers.. hahahahha
Never did get the tire back.
These stall mats are great! Thick, slip resistant and fits in these yotas perfectly you just have to cut out the wheel wells. I priced bed mats and they were all over $100.00. This mat is actually thicker than most I saw and you can't beat 40 bucks!

Oh seriously... GREAT deal. I was just thinking, for me, with all this IFS CABBAGE RAPING PROJECT approaching, lol... Getting down to Big Lots and getting some Stanley Garage Padding Rubber mats.. YOu know, the ones that have pegs on the sides and pop together? Just thinking out loud, sorry, hahaha. I used a couple kitchen ones a few times,...they work GREAT! Holes all across them, so they kept my bedding off the flat of the bed in winter...(body heat + Freezing Condensation= WET BACK!) hahah.

Did you have a shell for this thing, or am I thinking of another persons rig?

It did come with a shell but I sold it to pay for the damn front end rebuild. I had a Softopper on my 94 and I absolutely loved it! As soon as I can afford it I am going to get one for this rig. They are kinda spendy but they really are perfect for my needs - light, easy to take on and off and totally water tight. I carried my welder, generator, chop saw and all my tools in my 94 in the pouring pacific northwest rain and NEVER did any of my stuff get wet.

Yeah, I've always wanted a Canback or something like that... 2 Runners later, I've yet to grab one. lol. I guess other COSTS keep getting in the way... Oh yeah, plus family crises, teenagers, x-wife, .....you know, the normal cabbage succubus culprits! lol.

Cool, can't wait to see that CHERRY with a pair of shorts on her! lol. LOVE that rig, D!

Well... the fishing was so so. There is a phenomenal Chinook Salmon run going on in the Smith but it is dependent on the water level. I have been so busy lately I haven't been able to get up there. As a result, I missed the really good runs that were happening. The day I got there the water level had dropped and the Kings were laying low. I did hook a jack but it broke off and I lost my lead leader. I didn't have another 15ft lead leader and it forced me off the river and that was that.
But I am standing by and the first rain that comes I am in the Yota and on the road back up there.
