instead of metal , we're looking at doing a "hi-brid" *kevlar+carbon fiber weave replacement .
it will be stronger then the stock steel and close to bulit proof . much easier to install and will never rust or detereate due to chemical leaks (coolant or brake fluid ect .. )

.

I cant wait to see a cab done. I'm on no schedule thats for sure. Always willing to "test" a cab too!! lol.

Well. One tiny step closer. Ordered a grill for her today. Just getting black for now. Still need to call original owner to see if grill was black or chrome.

Got tired of seeing her grill-less everytime I go into garage. Poor baby.

Got the new black grill in from Rock Auto.

Ordered this one....

VARIOUS MFR Part # TO1200143 {#5310092301} Does Not Include Head Lamp Bezels
4WD; black; Assembly; MINI

Really suprised at the quality. Very heavy plastic. Very nice little grill.
I was suprised how niceit was for the price. Was $30.79 plus shipping.

I realized half my grill clips were missing, so I found this diagram on a site...

Googled the numbers for the clips and screws....and that led me to finding new clips and screws.

They should be here in a week or so.

So all I can offer is a shot of a half installed grill....lol...till I get more clips.

Rock auto has some great prices. No dissapointments yet. I use Toyota parts in the key areas...headgaskets...balljoints...clutch discs...brakes...and bewtween Engnbldr and rock..been pretty lucky.

Realized I cant find a "new" 4wd front bumper either. I'll have to straighten mine out. The Chrome is nice...just has a couple ripples...I can get out.

Stlrunner is outside stealing my 87's distributor for some testing on his 4runner. I had the timing perfect too.

Watching in anticipation! These have always been a favorite of mine, next to the first-gen 4runners.

I have a long way to go for sure...but there are solid trails to follow thanks to Slaker, dropzone, kawasaki636, and many many more.

If it were not for pictures of NJ trekkers ride, I would be discouraged.

There will be salvation for this trekker. If it takes me years.

If my damn van sells soon...I can make a major commitment to the trekker via the new topper, hardware, and a floorpan fro a donor.

Im forced to chip away at little stuff right now due to back issues.

I ordered a redline weber 32/36 for the trekker today.
Made sure it was the spanish one. Going to research the install
just to make it go smoother. Anyone have any tips to make life easier on me?

Be nice to start it up and move it when I need to without "warming" it up.
Not to mention the death clouds of smoke. I rebuilt the stocker but the choke was fubar.

Also buying a welder today. I mulled it over and over about buying a miller or hobart. I decided on an eastwood. I know its a lesser brand...but with the actual amount and type of welding needed on the trekker I will have more than enough machine. Will be lightly used its whole life.

This is the one I decided on.

I haven't heard much good from Eastwood welders and that is steep for a rebranded welder that has a good potential of failing. And unless you plan on doing some aluminum welding, all you really need is a 110V welder. I was just looking at welders the other day and Tractor Supply had the Hobart Handler 140 (with a regulator and flow valve) for $499. I use a Hobart Handler and abuse the crap out of it and it doesn't fail me. I've had about 20 hours or trigger time in the past month alone and it still battles through. Get a cart and helmet from harbor freight and you'll still come in cheaper.

Oh, and to make that Weber install go smoothly, get yourself a spiral adapter from LCE and toss the two piece adapter that comes with it

Got a couple gallon of Metal Ready in today. Sandblast cabinet is in basement waiting to be assembled. Waiting on eastwood to credit the welder so I can order my hobart. Aslo ordering a powdercoating kit, and welding table.

Should be set up to start some parts blasting and coating soon.

Also found a used oven...but for handicap people...had all knobs on front of stove...so i can set it up off the dround and still reach controls....should make putting stuff in and out easier.

And a nice stool for my workbench and drafting table.

Ill post some pics this afternoon of before and after shots of the metal ready on a few test spots. Ive used it before. Really great stuff.

Breakfast time...be back.

When your back is gimped up...you do what you gotta do.

I cant wait to start making some progress on the trekker.

Found a trim piece I needed on ebay cheap. The one with woodgrain are tough to find.

With a weber...and wheels from mightymouse. I will be able to venture around the nirghborhood. Was even considering a mission to the exhaust shop....wonder if I could make it there without getting busted.....lol.
