Now wack the frame with a ball-peen wack-em-smack-em and give us a few pics.

 

 

I hammer tested the frame. Its a strong possibility I will use it. Alot of cleanup...but I wont have to patch anything. Obviously if I come across a really nice frame...ill use it. Time is money.

So you can see what I am dealing with. I have a multi year exspensive project.

Ill need you guys help and advice. Looks as though I have to tear the entire truck apart. Repair alot and refinish everything.

Doing my ritualistic soaking of every bolt on the truck.

So far I am thinking a donor truck of some sort would be awesome. A clean cab and frame..would save me alot of money and time. Part of me wants to keep it as original as possible. Does it matter on a Trekker?
Im not planning a concourse show winner. Im not planning wheeling it.
Id like it to look as bone stock as possible.

I am doing this in a 2 car garage. Im in no hurry. I have alot of tools. Big compressor. Air tools. Torches. Grinders.

Need a sandblaster and welder for sure. Pretty good on everything else.

Thoughts?

 

Don't forget lots of bandaids and asprin!

 

Bandaids? For the weak. I rub grease or oil in my wounds to clot them and keep working.

Asprin? Im 42. I go for vicodin. Solves almost any ache or pain.

Wow, gonna be a heck of a project!

I was at Yoda Jim's Yota Yard yesterday in Denver and I'm pretty sure I saw a Trekker in the lot. It was pretty beat but I wanted to let you know in case you needed to scab anything. I live like 3 hr away so I made a special trip out there but maybe there's a front range member who could check it out for you! (PS it was red paint but I didn't see the interior)

 

Well. I was off today so I decided to wash off the mold and other organic
material. She was crusty as you can tell.

Very pleased with the bedsides. Top need work. Almost feel as if I can save all the sheetmetal. Even the hood with some work. We shall see.

Did the Trekkers have their own frame or a shortbed truck frame? I know a boneyard that has a good shortbed frame. Supposed to be a Trekker in my area. I have been looking for it, was told the general area, if it is out there, I will find it. To bad you didnt live closer, I would give you a hand on it. Sent you a PM with a pic.

Pull the windshield. I am afraid you might find some rust around the windshield frame

I saw coreys this summer while picking up some quarter panels for my 4runner If you ever get a chance to see his in person you will see the ultimate Trekker.

 

So Terrys87 probably found me a clean frame and has a cab I can harvest most of the floor I need from. Pretty excited about that. He's only 300 or so miles away. I can make a day trip out of that.

Been looking for posts on cab removal and such. Also have to figure out how this trekker back half is attached. NJtrekker is sending me some used hatch hinges so I can hang hatch back on for bodywork etc.

Been looking at getting another mig setup. Never should have sold my hobart. Hindsight huh?
