ditchdrift's Freebie 1983 Build Up

Well, this 83 literally got pushed into my shop by the cops. They ran the plates and found them to be bad, lit up the hoodlums in the truck, chased them until they blew up the transmission and ran on foot. The police literally pushed it into my shops parking. Didn't want it, but couldn't refuse a free solid axle truck. Its truly the biggest hunk of junk.

Anyways, build plans are; keep it as low as possible, spare bias 36" ltb's, 63" chebbies, ruf's, ifs box, highsteer, spare w56 in the back of the shop, doublers, chop down some spare jeep wj sliders, cut the hell out of the fenders, bob the bed about 14 inches, some sort of gears maybe 4.88's. Should make for a fun ride, gotta make the engine run right too. Pics? Oh yea.

Here is my other beater trail truck, built it in a garage while away at purdue. Rear geometry slighty boogered.

Thanks, I'll be doing the 83 up the correct way. Low and slow. I want a stable truck i can drive instead of trailering.

Low and slow is the way to go. I'm running 35's on my Tacoma with 2-2.5" of lift and plenty of cutting

Can they even do that without checking the VIN # and not reporting it stolen?

Even so, it should have been "seized" at least and impounded till they found the right owner. Sorry, but if that was my truck and some hoodlums had it, I'd be a little pissed that the cops just handed it over to someone else. Even if it was after 20 years.

Already did the lien papers on it, its legally mine now. Obviously never been to vallejo before... they have other things to worry about like people getting shot than a beater truck.

sounds a little fishy to me.

as far as not being able to find a tailgate, you just haven't looked hard enough

Bob the bed a bit lol. Leave enough frame for some 63" Chevy leafs, though.
