It actually increases the static compression ratio by quite alot, not decrease. I had the pistons fly cut about .3mm's so the compression should be in the 10.5:1 range. I used this calculator to figure it out.

Lucky for you it's not a pressure bearing part, but there is no way I see this happening on a DD. I have seen it happen to a drag car or two though. One the block the other the trans housing.

This is one reason of the many reasons to run a scatter shield. But not necc on a DD or a wheeler. I don't even think they even make one for any 22r transmissions.

Only thing I can think of is someone either had the motor or trans out at one point and did not have it fully lined up when torquing down the trans housing bolts.

P.S. Was the support brackets on the bottom of that block on both sides?

Ive seen this before. No factory support brackets to the transmission or they ran broken motor mounts for to long. Either way I bet they drove it home!!

Making more progress, i pieced together a timing chain kit with HD guides.

I cleaned up the head and did a damn good lap job on the valves, i have perfect sealing using a vaccum tester on the combustion chamber. Also smoothed out the runners and gasket matched intake and exhaust.

OK, well the motor is in and the EFI is all wired in, i just have to clean the wiring up a bit and make it look factory. All i really need to do to get the motor running is find an EFI gas tank and get a efi throttle cable. The ECU is located above the glove box and is tucked away real nice.

Thanks, its really not going to look that great. its mostly a budget build to be fun. Its going to get doublers, w56, 5.29's, locker, hi steer with hydro assist, 36" tsl's, rears up fronts, and 51" springs in the rear. Its actually just going to be a fun bomb around rig.

most likely will bob the rear, i might also section out a part of the front and shorten the frame. but thats later in the project. currently, all it is is a rusty body, 2 diffs, and a motor.

Got a throttle cable installed, finished up the wiring, and finished the air intake setup. Now i have to see if i can get a efi tank out of an 86 truck to work.
