I painted all of the frame today from the gas tank to the transfer case support cross piece as well as the rear axle and front/rear driveshafts. What a PITA lol. Hopefully gonna finish the rest tomorrow. Tried to take a picture but didn't come out good.

Thanks for your thoughts! How would I get better penetration? I had the voltage on high. The metal might have been to thick for the welder I think. I welded both side of all connections and gave it a good whack and it didn't move so It should be fine.

Painted a lot more of the frame today. Ran out of paint and Walmart didn't have any more and the Autozone by my house doesn't keep it in stock anymore. Probably need one more can lol but oh well. I decided to start to work on this alternator bracket.
Got the grill, radiator, and fan shroud removed. All need to be cleaned and painted. Back side of the radiator had a good bit of mud on it. Antifreeze was super clean too.

Took a lot measurements of the engine and pulleys and this is what I got so far:
Side view of the motor:
I plant to use the three empty holes in the engine to hold one side of the mount and the bolt on the front to hold the other side. This is all to scale for the most part and the alt was just drawn on to show a reference of its mounts with the pulleys lined up. The alt should sit a lot lower than it is in diagrams.
Front view of the motor:

The three holes on the side I want to use are at an angle.
Sketch of the bracket:

Pics of the motor so you can see what I'm talking about:

So that's whats I'm looking at. If anyone has any input or feedback please let me know!

Alright today was very productive. Got a bracket made for my alternator! Used 16 gauge metal. Its not sheet metal either. Welds are fugly but they hold. Here is the bracket not installed:
Goofy guy in the picture is my friend, he was bored and came and helped me:

Mount installed on engine:

Alternator installed:

Still got make the top piece to hold it in place. Im using the belt on the outside pulley rather than the middle pulley with nothing on it. If I used the middle one I would have to make some kind of tension bracket and with using the outside pulley I can use the stock one. What do yall think?

I read the famous de-smogg a 22R thread on here and was looking at my truck when I got home and I dont see a lot of the parts lol. I see no smog pump or PAIR/Reed valve thingy. I do see the ERG valve though. The thread is on like a 79 truck and mine is an 83. Anyone know if there was a big change between then? Or maybe truck was mostly de-smogged already. My engine had been rebuilt before I got the truck and I'm wondering if they took a lot of that stuff off. I will be getting my 83 FSM in the mail soon, wondering what it will tell me about it.

Got my FSM in the mail today!!!!! Its in great shape!

My labs all say hi to all other yota owners and their dogs. In other news I got a belt put on the new alt today. Ended up being a 54" belt. Bad part was I loosened the old alt tensioner to get the belt off and I put it back on and was tightning it and the bolt in the top broke off
. So eneded up taking the whole old alt out and manged to get the rest of the bolt out and put a new one in it. Disconnected the wiring to the old alt as well. After all that I started the truck and reved it nice and high and everything looks good. Belt moves straight. Still gotta wire it up but thats what my FSM is for
. Also put positive battery cable on. Stock one was hardly making connection and giving me starting issues.

^^^^THIS, and "Should never have sold it
" are contradictory... STOP IT! lol... You made a sacrifice that MANY MORE should probably make, but don't, because they're not seeing the big picture, ya know? I 'MISS' mine as well... Lil Blue was BEAUTIFUL, pretty much one of a kind... but NOT ONE OUNCE of regret... It helped pay for rent during first year of college!
NEVER REGRET, ... it's fruitless, COMPLETELY!
.... Just reflect.... and reflecting, Josh, ... would you have done anything differently???? (and FORGET things that manifested AFTER you sold it that would have allowed you to keep it, ... again, POINTLESS, hehe).... SCHOOL IS more important..... NOW GET BACK TO SUNDAY STUDIES, YOUNG MAN!
