TG makes a GM to Toyota Alternator Bracket? Good to know... Thinking more about it, it's such a common mod, I figured SOMEONE had to, lol.

Like I said,...... looking forward to seeing you get it in there and post the results. Not a bad idea, that's for sure.
Haha I was being dead serious I thought everyone knew about that bracket. There a few companies that make it now. Been out a couple years.

They say its a VERY TIGHT fit with this bracket in the stock location with a cs144 and a cs130 is a much easier fit but I like the 35 more amps . I considered just buying the bracket and using it but I really want it out of the way of water and mud and its a thousand times easier to get to if I can get it on the passenger side. Been considering taking the radiator out to really get good access to the motor b/c I know how important it is to get it lined up with the other pulleys.

... Well slap me in the mug and call me Homer! lol... I thought there MIGHT be, but wasn't sure... Mainly, my uncertainty is due to the fact that I've done, really, ZERO looking into this, just yet. I'm doing lots of things over the next year or so that will likely require more amperage... BUT,... for now, my Denso NEW 70A does just fine. I have a pretty good pumpin amp at 800W, 600RMS... Doesn't fade a TIDBIT, honestly BUT, as I add this lil set up I'm trying to do with the Con-Ferr lights and my already AMP SUCKING 8" Dick Cepek lights... and then a mini compressor for the trips(easy disconnect).... I just don't want to be pushing it.

It's a solid plan, man. Should be fine.

Oh, and if you don't remove the radiator... at least put a piece of plywood in front of it where you're working(inside the engine bay side of the radiator)...... I've seen people working on that job, at odd angles and that heavy lil sucker.. and 'bing', ding-orama on the radiator lol. It wouldn't hurt if you dont' mind draining your coolant

I removed my winch and bumper today. With it gone I have much more room to get in the engine bay to do this alt bracket. Still planning on taking the grill and radiator (gonna paint them both) out too. And while their out I'm gonna clean the front of the frame like I did the back. Make it much easier. The bumper weighed about 60 - 80 pounds and the winch was 100 pounds. Front of the truck sets up 3/4" of inch higher now. Yes I measured before and after lol.

Hey man, forgot to mention... Thanks on the "Nissan Part Number"... I ended up going with the Toyota Plenum ones I picked up, yesterday at PYPart. I got 4 pairs of them... They're a bit wider diameter pipe leading out, but same thread pitch/length, etc. 4x4wire.com and 4crawler had write ups on this, and right before I bought the parts online, I went to the yard on my way home from errands on Long Beach.... Walked in, shopped around, and aside from all the other goodies I got, I found 2 2nd Gen 4Runners that had them in the plenums... then a 2nd Gen PU that had them... THEN, walking through the Celicas and such I found that their engines had 2 that were useable, right on top, easy to get to... So I grabbed 2 more pairs of those. (The celicas have 2 sizes... same thread, etc., but 1 pipe side is wider/breathes better, than the other)....

Just wanted to thank you for throwing that up, taking the time... it got me thinking and I now have all but the hose to do this Appreciate it.

No problem and yes I like the way the truck looks with the big bumper off and I have considered leaving it that way but if I do then I don't need to put this alternator on

Got the new wire harness for the cs 144 alternator today. Got it off ebay for $10. Looks to be a good quality connector.

Why not? You could have someone bend you something different... or weld up some box pipe.... make something smaller and interesting/unique... ???? I DO NOT hate the thing or anything, hahaha... Just LOVE how they look, stock! I know a guy who built supports behind the stock ones, ... it wasn't super cheap, but he welded a winch plate to it and everything. You can't really see it on the front one, but I looked from behind and it was SUPER BEEF! hahaha. (He had a faye style stock toyota bumper w/step that he built in all the 1/4" plate into and welded it to the mounting plates and then to the frame. He could put his winch on back, too... I mean, you could SEE THAT stuff, obviously... but the support plating was hidden... VERY sick work. I wish I could weld like that.

Well got a big set back. Was suppose to borrow a welder from someone but that didn't work out so I'm have been looking at the Chicago Electric welders at HF. Talked to Dropzone about one he has from there and he says its pretty good so hopefully I will be getting one of those sometime this month. I did get in the new fan and pulley from Summit Racing for the alternator.

Hey Bud, ...

Question;

* Did you see a Part Number on that Alternator? I'll explain later today, hahaha.

PS> Sorry bout the setback... You'll get it....

And BTW... I just laughed pretty hard that I'd not seen those glowing demon dog eyes under that Alternator pic, before! .... Makes me wonder what I miss sometimes, ya know?

No it doesn't have any part numbers that I have been able find.

Ok, thanks.

I'll be posting up on my build... but, I found a 90's Caddy Deville with a super clean motor and 92K miles.... and he had JUST REPLACED the Alternator... Seeing it was 50% off day, I couldn't resist 12$... and I made sure to grab the wiring and connector for it as well... NOT SURE if it's the same... I guess I'd have to measure it up for you and my build.. Just to see. It's not a 'very soon' project.. But I'd LIKE to eventually have one for my 8" Lights and the possible 4-6 more on the Con-Ferr Roof Rack project, possibly air, etc., ya know? (I also grabbed one of it's horns! hahaha... WORKS GREAT, gonna install it soon )

Great find on that alternator. I measured mine and the mounting holes are approximately 7" center to center and excluding the mounting brackets the alt is 5 1/2" across.

Got some updates. Got me a flux core welder from HF for $90 courtesy of their sale . Saved $60 on it so I got the two-year warranty, some sleeves, and this nifty metal-angle holder thing all for $130. Also went to Tractor Supply and got some Hobart wire for the machine. Pretty much the only complaint on their welders is the wire they come with is crappy. But I'm excited !

Also been messing with the cs-144 alt I have and I can't get the pulley off. There appears to be a washer holding it on and I can't get it out. Any ideas?

You can also see the new fan for the alt beside it in the pic. The new v-belt pulley didn't make it in the pic lol.

I'm off a few days next week so I'm planning to pressure wash the underneath of the truck and try to paint the rest of the frame and do the axles and possibly start on the alt bracket.

Alt update:

All alt updates are also being posted on the regular Pre-84 trucks for everyone else to see. So if you see it twice don't fuss lol. Jk.

Got the old pulley and fan off and got the new one on. I had searched for this and couldn't find the same setup with that ring (turns out its a tapered washer) but I searched again and found this article:

http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/showthread.php?t=131960

Came off with one good whack from a bfh and a 1 1/16" socket sittin on the pulley. I was amazed lol. If Google could run for President I would vote for it. Put the new fan and pulley got it hand tight.

Been practicing MIG welding today. Only done it once in college a couple years ago. Like the machine so far.

The left is the first attempts and the right is the latest.

Worked on installing the mounts for my 100 watt lights this afternoon. Got the left side done. Looks pretty good I think.

Close up of one of the welds:

If any of yall are experienced welders give me your comments/criticism on what I'm doing or not doing right please. Thanks.

Wow, looks really good, that bumper. Not really a welding expert, lol... so I'll let the pro's chime away

Look at it this way... "will it hold?".... "Can you maybe grind it down a LIL bit and clean it up?".... VOILA, done! lol.
