I'm pretty sure that he can do it without damaging your originals. Great looking truck though!
You SERIOUSLY want reproductions of bushcrapper flares, the ugliest and most cliche fender flares I see on 80% of mallcrawlers nowadays?

Oh well to each his own I guess.

Edit: Radiator's probably gummed up with some stop-leak BS.

Ok had my first torrential rain on my truck and the windshield leaks pretty bad. Water all on my floor pans. I wanna tape off the outside and shoot flex seal around it. The seal is in bad shape. How much is it to have it resealed by a shop?

As for ur radiator gunk inside I had a friend take off his radiator for about two days and left it in the sun to bake the white build up he then was able to smack the radiator lightly enough to losen a lot of it and get it out as for a flush prestone makes a great flush product

The window seal is available on eBay. Some guy on there has a bunch of OEM seals for around $50-60. Installation is easy using the ole soapy rope trick. The hardest part is getting the windshield and old seal out - Just cut the old one out with a razor and clean up the windshield frame well.

Sometimes when shifting into reverse my gears grind and sometimes they don't. I have the clutch to the floor every time. What's causing this and do I need to be concerned? Sorry I really know nothing about auto tech. Any help appreciated

I'm not a tranny guy, in fact, it's pretty much the only thing on a truck that I pay somebody else to work on. But I know that there is a reverse lock out that keeps you from dropping into reverse directly from higher gears. It could be that or your synchros, but either way that would be internal. You might want to bleed your clutch first to see if that solves the problem -you could have some air in your line causing your clutch to not fully disengage when you push in the pedal.

I just booked my flight yesterday, I'll be in Haleiwa in three weeks. If you can't figure it out by then I might be able to scope it out for you while I'm there.

Thanks for the compliments!

And thanks for the advice. I engage first gear before slowing to a stop and then into reverse. That seems to do it. Must be that reverse lock as I was switching from second gear previously. Shoot me a message when your on island and maybe you can check out my rig. Fortunately the previous owner had the transmission rebuilt at a trans shop 1500 miles ago. His receipt was just shy of $2000. Lucky me. Lol

The reverse gear has no syncro, so it is normal for it to grind into reverse. The trick is to either put it in first then into reverse or to take it out of gear- put in neutral- release the clutch- press the clutch- engage reverse. If you have no problem shifting in the other gears then there should be nothing wrong with the slave cylinder, but it doesn't hurt to check and get your auto tech knowledge increasing!

Master cylinder leak

Did some off roading yesterday and must have rattled my brake master cylinder. Some fluid seeping from the front of the cylinder. Do I have to replace the whole thing or just a gasket issue?

Is the fluid actually seeping out of the cylinder, or is it just coming off of it like it had gotten past the lid?
To be honest, I would recommend replacing it anyway, because the masters on these trucks tend to be pretty tired.

It seems it was just some fluid that seeped out of the cap where the sensor wires enter. That's a relief.

Treating surface rust on frame and undercarriage

I want to kill the surface rust on my under carriage. Axles, springs, frame etc. I know por-15 is the best but probably save that for when I can afford a frame off resto. In the meantime anyone have any suggestions on a solid rust converter and top coat? Also any pointers on the process. What I should be sure not to paint etc? Budget also is a concern. Looking for products that won't break the bank yet not sacrifice too much protection and quality. Just want to stop that surface rust from becoming a problem. Also the semi gloss black looks great underneath.

Frame has surface rust so I gotta learn how to kill it and what to paint it with. Overall a clean 83 especially in salty Hawaii.

I got a new radiator. Old one had a big section of brittle fins. Temp problem gone.
Changed windshield rubber.
Gonna change clutch master and slave since its cheap. Amazon.
Old master got a slow drip by the pedal.
Swapped transmission gear oil for synchromesh mtf. Sooooo smooth!
Big plan with no financing. Lol. One day I'll actually build it. Until then it runs all over the island strong.
The other threads keep me going.
