97 tahoe 4x4 2 door project!

i picked up a tahoe 4x4 2 door,vortec 350,auto locking diffs with 3:43 gears.
seller stated only thing wrong was dirty interior and slipping tranny.
to say the least....this hoe was full of suprises.
i have it posted at gmfullsize forum, the guys over there were so disgusted with how the interior looked....they swear jimmy hoffa's body was hidden somewhere in the floor boards.
pulled the fuel tank....someone filled her with diesel.
lots of work to be done!

getting the hoe home!

Did they put a hose clamp on the heater quick release fitting? I would have to agree with the GMfullsize guys, that interior is pretty bad, looks like you got some good change from it though.

looks that way,a 3/4 npt pipe nipple was installed and a hose clamp.
i cant wait to get the fuel tank back inorder and hear this hoe run.
then i can see about the tranny....if its really slipping.

the interior was horrible indeed.
i thought twice about buying it once i looked inside.
but with a body that solid....i couldnt pass it up for $500

Hey, at least you got some ammo and some change! Check that WalMart shopping card too - maybe there's enough left on there to get a gallon or two of gas!! Damn, that was nasty! Makes you wonder what someone's house looks like if their vehicle is that bad

I'd dig that carpet out of the magic barrel and pressure wash it and the seats. I think it would turn out ok?

i spent $7-8 bucks at the carwash trying to pressure wash it,tried soap, engine cleaner, shampoo option....wasnt happening.i coulda have dyded it black...lol.
that carwash was 75 cents for 2 mins...i spent some time on it bro.

plus it was dryrot, tore it in a few spots.

shes still sitting there,nothing changed.
after being closed up for awhile....no smell!

may get her streetable and flip it,odds are once i drive it....ill fall in love with the power.
it should get 15-17 mpg stock....my 82 yota stock with 33's gets 12-14....so i may keep the old hoe.
right now i drive my 82 yota 60 miles a day for work.even though it eats gas,i wont stop using it.my new car gets 31-33 mpg....its only got 400 miles on it...a reasonable man would drive that....but i got yota fever...lol.
expensive sickness.

update....cleaned the tank, installed new fuel pump and sending unit....she runs beautiful.
traded a portable generator for some nice 33 toyo a/t's......still waiting on the tittle before i continue.
hurricane issac screwed me on the tittle.
she will smoke the tires all day,but 3rd and 4th gear is toast.so a tranny is needed.
damn gm 4l60e.
but she runs!

put my old 33x10.50x15 swampers,on the dirty old hoe.
then gave her a bath.today i saw 2 rats run out from the under carriage while moving her.
smelled of rats ass under the hood....the bath helped.

while i was there....the drivers side upper control arm to frame bushing is shot....talking 1 inch of play here.
add that to the list of minor repairs.

thinking a faulty vss sensor is the problem......

well....autozone gave me the wrong vss....bummer.gonna get the right one tomorrow.
its killing me not knowing if this will solve the issue!

some 35's....3 inch lift and 3:73's-4:10's would be awesome on this rig.
a spare tire rack, front bumper and winch, roof top tent too...lol.

the right vss cost me $70....did it work?
yes it did,i have speedo, and all gears.just gotta stop that tranny leak now.

a friend on a rc truck forum helped pin point the vss problem.
and to think the p.o. gave up on this for a $70 part.

looks like there are grooves for c clips...hard to tell in the pic,i tried a close up but it came out blurry....took 3 seperate pics.
im used to the old 80's thm350,and 700r4's....(they used a flare type connection)so im not sure if c clips are supposed to be here,i can see notches in the connections where they would fit.my engineering side tells me i need a clip...lol.
best i can do 8 budlights deep.
you can see the m30 clearly cast into the lower bell housing ...indicating everyones fears of a 4l60e....lol.
no rust as mentioned on this dirty old hoe!
