New mountain bike

Well I took the plunge, made a pact with myself to get in shape and got a new mountain bike.

I got a Mordo modified Dunlop 249 series in Sunfire red. It is 18 Speed witha 29" frame. I bought it on Thursday night with some of the money I had set aside to go to the Yotajam.

As usual though I ended up spending almost as much on accessories as I did on the bike :pat: I got a rack that fits on my 2" reciever ( with a padlock to keep the bike in the rack and a locking hitch pin to keep the rack on the truck) and a matching helmet, gloves and of course a good cable lock.

I went out on one of the trails near my house the first night and did about 2km then got up early Friday morning for another run, then a short trail at lunch time.

Sounds cool Mack.
One of these days I will get a new one.
Mine is from '88, and really outdated.

Congratulations. Try to keep the rubber side pointed down.

Kinda off topic...

I saw on Ripley's Believe It or Not on TV today that a guy named Eric went 107 MPH on a mountain bike. He wiped out due to mechanical failure. I could not believe his injuries were not more severe. He had several broken ribs and a dislocated shoulder and some scrapes and cuts.

Yeah, I saw that too. It was pretty crazy. I'd say he had a little more than a "mechanical failure." His bike broke completely in half. It looked like he actually crushed the front tire with his neck. Ouch!!!

I'm suprised he's still alive.

Congrats on the new bike Mack ! I bought my Trek a few years ago, but just started getting serious about mountain riding this summer and I absolutely love it !

I was wondering how the guy got his bike to go 107? Was he being pulled by something or what ?

What kind of componets were spec'd with it?

I am thinking of upgrading my '02 StumpJumper Pro for a Titus Racer X or a Titus SwitchBalde.... both in the mid $3500 range and worth ever cent!

WOW!! What a difference 3 years makes!

The 29er movement has moved from the fringes into the mainstream in the MTB world. I have owned 3 29ers, a Speedgoat Asylum, Titus Exogrid Racer-X 29er, and a Exogrid hardtailed single speed 29er.

Sorry to bump up old threads but I just had to...
