My buddy bought a 97 V6 Taco from a dealer a few months ago and the sales guy said that he thought there was something wrong with the rear end b/c it made noise. My buddy bought another rear end and pulled this one out. It turns out that it had a lockrite in it so he just decided to change it out b/c he wouldn't use it anyway. He wants $300 for the whole chunk and doesn't want to ship. Located in Athens GA about 45 mins from Atlanta. I will take pics in a few days if anybodys interested.

 

If this 3rd will work in a 99 4Runner V6 rear im interested. Is there anything he is willing to take in trade or trade + Cash?

 

THis sounds like a Non TRD Taco so that means it would be an 8.4 rear instead of our 8.0 rear.

wmflyfisher is this correct? Non TRD truck. Seems the only likely situation since it would have a elocker if it was a TRD.

 

Yes, this is from a non-TRD Taco and I'm almost positive that it will fit your non-TRD rear end.

You might want to further confirm that from someone on this board though. I'll have to check about trades. I know he does need some cash for it though, I just don't know how much. What kind of stuff do you have, Tacoma if possible?? I will be leaving to go out of town early in the morning for the day so I won't have online access.
