Built '01 Tundra
I'm looking to sell or trade my '01 SaS'ed Tundra. The selling price is $20K obo although I would prefer to trade for a Taco, 4Runner or Cruiser in the same price range. For pictures or more information e-mail me at jmj@cableone.net. I purchased the Tundra new and it has always been and continues to be my daily driver. Here are the basics on the Tundra:
Its a 2001 Toyota Tundra Limited 4X4 Access Cab with 114,140 miles.
Factory Options on this vehicle are:
All Weather Guard Package
Premium Sound
Off-Road Package
Cloth Captains Chairs W/ drivers powered
Auto-Dimming Mirror W/temp and compass
VIP RS3000 Security System
After Market Items installed:
35 BFG AT Tires like new. Also included are four (4) 35 BFG Krawlers on TrailReady Beadlocks.
CB Unit installed.
Dana 44 Front Axle with 4:56 gears, ARB locker, Warn Alloy Inner and outer axle shafts, CTM U-joints and Warn Premium hubs.
The frame is re-enforced with 1/4" steel plate.
2" tube sliders welded to the 1/4" steel plate.
Custom Rear bumper is fabbed from 3/16" tubing and bolted to the frame and has a detachable drop bumper making it legal in most States.
Front Bumper is an ARB with a 10K Warn winch with 125' of 3/8" poly line.
The leaf springs are 6" BDS.
Steering is hydro-assist using a Red Neck Ram and a modified 1990 Toyota pickup steering box.
The rear is a Y-4Link using Rubicon Express Super-Flex Joints, 6" Skyjacker coils and 12" Fox shocks. The rear axle shafts are still stock but with 4:56 gears and an ARB locker.
The gas tank had to be removed for the Y-4link so there is a 35-gallon fuel cell in the bed of the truck.
The Transfer Case is from a V6 Tacoma, its a manual twin stick mated to a 4.7 Marlin Crawler box and is protected with a 3/16 skid plate.
Has an auxiliary power steering cooler (Setrab) mounted in front of the radiator.
A Howe power steering reservoir w/filter.
Amsoil dual oil filtration unit has been installed since the first 500 miles.
Bed is X-Lined and the under carriage and sliders are POR-15 treated.
All diff fluids/transmission fluid/motor oil/greases/ have been full synthetic since the first 500 miles.
Has Arizona pin stripping, a couple tree rubs and a little rock rash on the passenger rear quarter panel but its very minor.
Interior is in excellent shape.

You jest young man(X-AWDRIVER), as the Tundra goes any damn place you point it and have the balls to see it through. In case anybody is wondering why I'm trying to trade - I have Slees School Bus (the Tundra is more capable on the class 4/5 trails) for wheeling and the Tundra is literally kicking my butt getting into and out of several times a day, as I'm 63 and not getting any younger. It's starting to wear on me a little, so I'm looking for a "slightly" built (33") or stock vehicle I can ram around in. The Avatar was taken when it was still IFS - need I say more?

I'm sorry, I'm not interested in buying but I would like to see it. Pics are the key to internet sales.

I need you to send me your e-mail address and I'll send pictures of the Tundra along with a few trail shots. It's the details that I've always found wheelers want to know about and if it looks good as well, it's a sure sale or trade. I've had several Pirate guys show interest but the "short list" is now down to two so just maybe next week I can pull the ad. Tedd's sight is a good reference.

So far a lot of lookers and a couple trade offers that didn't come together, so I'll bump it up one last time to see if anyone out there has a stocker or medium built rig they are looking to trade. If someone out there has a nice rig that's worth more than the Tundra, I'll pony up the bucks for the difference.
With most being a little strapped for cash, it kinda looks like I might just have to go with 4" BDS springs and come up with some type of "easy-on easy-off" old fogey step.

Pictures aren't the problem - so far 27 people from here and Pirate have asked for pictures meaning to me they possessed an interest and some offered trades of "older" rigs, which were in good condition, but the monetary difference was to great to overcome and some thought about refinancing for a couple days before deciding that it wasn't in their financial best interests. Theres only a small market out there for a full-sized vehicle on steroids but I think someone with a nice 4Runner or Taco will come along and instead of pouring a lot of money into a build will just decide to trade for this beast. Ive seen a couple vehicles I would have paid several thousand to boot for but they needed the money, not an off-road daily driver, so those went by the wayside. But thank you for your suggestion.

There you go dwh91102 thanks, as I forgot about Tedd's site. Look under Joe. The undercarriage no longer has that brownish color to it, as everything under there (including the sliders) got a good power washing, wire brush and a little air power sanding and then a coat of POR-15, a coat of enamel primer and a coat of flat black enamel that was in August of this year. Should hold up for a couple years anyway with the salt on the streets and highways in the North Country. This afternoon I just pulled both hubs and repacked the inner and outer bearings, greased the CTMs etc with synthetic grease of course and adjusted the rear brakes it was either putz with the Tundra or do honeydo stuff, so I delayed cleaning the eves and winterizing the air conditioner for at least another day.

Thats a well built rig you have Joe. I am curious a little about the xcase setup? Stock with a 4.7 crawl box for dual cases?

Marlin couldn't figure out how to make his crawler work with the stock tundra transfer case, so he just took it out and replaced it with a V6 Taco case and bolted up his crawler - that's why I have the twin sticks plus the 4.7 stick in the cab - it's no longer push a button and wait for the lights - now you grab a stick and go.
