saw this on ebay

tailgate #1

here's one but it's already ended with a winner, maybe email them and see if they have another one?

another possibility but same thing though, you would have to contact them about your year as these are from 80s 4runners, but you may get lucky and they would have one, that's how i've found parts on ebay just ask around.

hope this helps

well,,,,,
I have a pretty nice rear tailgate off a 1993 4Runner it's dark green, has the working power window motor, good glass,
gold emblems, (missing a letter on the "toyota" label, and the emblem just above)

BUT,, I live in Northern California,,

shipping will probably be an issue,?

Thanks for the info, the tailgate on ebay is local pickup only, but I'll keep a look out. Webilt, shipping would be pricey so I'll have to pass, thanks for the offer. I looked into purchasing a new shell from the dealership but it would cost me like $800. I was able to find a website that had the shell for around $250 + $100 shipping but they're currently out of stock. Does anyone out there work at a dealership, or have some kind of connection, that could get one at a reasonable price?

Thanks

Yeah, I noticed that tailgate panel on toyotafiberglass.com before. I'm not sure how exactly it would work, probably would be alot of fab work...cutting, bondo, sanding?

Well if the Craigslist one dosnt work out, I dont have a problem in shipping,, I'm working on shipping a 1986 tailgate to the mid-west,, possibly thru Forward Air,,
if you have a Forward Air (www.forwardair.com) near-by and
if you want to get a shipping size and weight from Sacramento Ca to your area,,
let me know,, I'd sell it for $225.00 complete + shipping,, ......

Ok, that's good to know. The major concern I have is rust. I've been looking to replace my tailgate because the top, near the weather stripping, has rusted away pretty bad. The rust started from the inside of the tailgate so in the beginning it isn't easy to spot and once it starts it's pretty much impossible to stop. Would you be able to thoroughly check it over and take some more detailed pictures so I have a better idea of it's condition. It would be a waste of money to purchase a used tailgate only to have it rust out soon after.

Thanks

Webilt, Craigslist seller never contacted me so if you can check on the rust situation and post more pics, I'd be interested.

So do you think Forward Air is the best option, how did it work out with that other tailgate you shipped to the midwest? What would it cost?

Thanks

Well..
I'll know the exact cost for shipping to Connecticut from Sacramento, Ca this coming week,

your more than welcome to try and find another shipping Co,
the guy from Conn.. advised that Fed Ex/UPS wanted over $200.00 for shipping,, and Forward Air (according to him with a 150 LB item) was under $100.00,

Forward Air quoted me $90 for a 4'x2'x1' package weighing 150 lbs, I figured thats about the size of the tailgate.

the 1986 Tailgate came out to,
5'x2'x16" strapped on the custom pallet
Forward air also quoted me $90.00 for shipping to Conniticut,,
the 86 tailgate on the pallet weighs in at 118lbs
