5x3 rectangle metal tubing

im looking for a 6 foot piece of 5x3 metal tubing anywhere from 3/16 think to 3/8. maybe someones has some scrap laying around they want to get rid of..for cheap

or anything close to that size, 4x3, 6x2, 6x3, 5x2

It would seem to me that shipping on raw metal would negate any savings you reaped by finding it on here... My suggestion is finding a scrap yard and buying some there.

yeah, be careful what you're up to here... bumper? i kinda hope not...

I'm pretty sure that a 5x3x84" 3/8" piece of steel is roughly 450 cu in of steel, coming to about 127 lbs !!!

thats what i want to do the guy making them says thats the stock he uses, ok maybe not 3/8 but maybe 1/4 or 3/16

I would go to a scrap yard. Actually, unless I had the urge to make my own and work on a project I would probably just buy the one he was selling. He says the bumper is around 130 pounds, the cheaper steel yards around here sell scrap for about .60 a pound. That's 80 bucks right there. When you add in weld wire paint grinder pads sand paper etc. 200 doesn't seem so bad. Savings on steel seems nominal compared to the expense of the tools you'd need to make that bumper. But if you are looking to make your own and do a fun project, dont listen to me, go for it! And post pics.

yup, oops , so 109 not 127 pounds (18.14lbs per foot)
