Talking 3.4 Engine from '99 Taco - WA

EDIT:
PRICE REDUCED $800 OBO
On closer inspection it does appear to have the pilot bearing machining on the crank, so this should work in a manual.

Hey Guys,

Helping my buddy sell an engine he bought to do a 3.4 swap into his '92 Runner. Work and life got in the way so now he's selling it.

Here's the scoop:

The engine came out of a 1999 Toyota Tacoma with 80,000 miles. Looks like from an auto (originally thought it was from a 5 speed) 4 wheel drive. He bought it from a guy in Portland who had wrecked his Taco a few months ago, but the motor ran perfect before that. He's looking to get $800ish for it, but I know he's open to offers.

He's also willing to ship, though the details would need to be figured out. He's located in Spokane, WA and his brother drives over to Seattle on a regular basis so some sort of shipping arrangement could be made.

Link to Pics (First five are of motor.)

You can relay question through me, or I can put you in touch with him.

Thanks!

You might want to double check the specs about that engine. Picture #3 sure looks to have an automatic ring gear on it, rather than a manual flywheel.

As long as it has the center bore for a pilot bearing, it should still work, either way (transmission-wise).

Yea, thats a flexplate not a flywheel. Its not a manual transmission setup, unless he swapped on a flexplate?

Thanks for the input guys, I'll have him check it out more closely (it may have been misrepresented to him when he got it...)

I think you guys are right just by looking at those pics. I'll check it out in person, but until then I'm going to change it so it read from an auto. Thanks! (Oh ya price reduced as well!)

$900 and I'm sure he'd entertain offers. You're close enough that I'm sure delivery could be worked out as well.

According to the person he bought it from, no. It was pulled directly out of a wrecked Tacoma, and I know my friend hasn't taken it apart.

Yup, though 'technically' someone has spoken for it. They are out of town and will be back next Thursday. Figure I'd give them until then to show me the money.

If nothing by late next week, then the first one who can pay gets it, no holdsies.

Thanks!

Great! Is it located in Spokane? Also, I couldn't tell from the previous posts, did it come from a 5 speed or Auto? Will it work with an auto?

Keep me updated as I am interested if your prior sale falls through. Thanks!

Yup, its in Spokane, and it did come from an auto (has a flex plate still on it). It also has the machining in the end of the crank for pilot bushing, so it could work in either.

I'll definitely keep you next in line.

Thanks!

Holy cow! Sorry about that, you did PM me. I just replied.

For what its worth the current pending deal was still before you, but I will put you in second if you're interested. (Sorry Greedy, but I need to honor this, it was my screw up.)

Sorry for the mix up.

Thanks!
Shane

I might be interested if the first two back out. I am located in OH. Any idea on shipping to a business in 43085? What accessories are included with the motor? All connections and harnesses included?

Thanks

Just to update everyone. The first in line has until tonight to decide if he wants it, then as per my friend who it actually belongs to, first come first serve. (I can put you in direct contact with him if you like).

I've sent PM's to the next interested people in line, so let me know if you need any more info!

Thanks!

I believe I've answered all the PM's I've received, so let me know if I missed you!

Basically due to me being out of town for most of the next couple weeks, the best way to handle this is to contact him directly. I sent all of you his number. He's held it for a couple people and has gotten burned, so pretty much first to contact him and come up with the ca$h gets it.

Let me know if I can be of any more assistance.

Good Luck!
