1997 4Runner For Sale...$8,900...SOLD!

Hey guys,

***SOLD 4/20/06 to Smitty (Nick)***

Today is a sad day, but my wife and I have decided that we're going to sell a few things and get out of debt by September 1st. One thing that I'm sad to regret is my 4runner. It's literally the one thing I love to drive off-road and mod up over the years. But, I came to the realization that I'm not going enough to make it a worthwhile investment at this point. My wife will never go with me, and I love being with her, so we've got a goal that if we get out of debt in that period of time, she'll get to quit work and go to school full-time, and I'll buy a Ranger XP that I can ride with her when she rides her dirtbike. This way I can have the best of both worlds. I can be with her and have a vehicle similar to driving a truck that I'm going to modify so I can run some mild to moderate off-road trails. They're pretty amazing little machines.

At any rate, enough of my story, but essentially I have over $25K in credit card debt, a paid off 1993 Lexus SC400 that we're selling, and my 4runner. If I can get rid of all this by September 1st, even though the 4runner will be gone, I'll be credit card debt free. I can't wait, even though it will require the sale of my 4runner.

So, here's the details on my 4runner:

1) 1997 Toyota 4Runner Limited 4wd Fully Loaded
- Factory Rear E-Locker
- 1.5"x1.5"x.25" Square tube angled up sliders
- 3" Roger Brown Body Lift
- 3" Roger Brown Drivetrain Lift
- 3-4" Suspension Lift
- Tundra front coils with top out spacer and OME shocks
- LC 8 Wrap coils with air shocks in the rear
- Relocated Gas Tank to spare tire location for added undercarriage clearance
- Completely flat undercarriage from the front tires to the rear control arms
- Front Range Off-Road transfer case skid plate
- Custom Built Transfer Case Cross Member
- Custom built, high clearance rear bumper made out of 3/16" metal with built-in receiver hitch
- Interior is basically stock tan leather, except for Husky Liners all the way around, including the rear cargo area
- Exterior color is dark green, which has multiple scratches and dents due to off-roading, but no rust
- Custom trimmed fenderwells to allow for larger tires without rubbing. I had anticipated SAS'ing this truck and running 37-38.5" tires, so the fenders will not clear those if desired. In addition, I still have to finish the front passenger side, and then I was planning to get it rhino lined to cover all the limited fender holes that currently exist.
- Stock but trimmed front bumper to contour with the trimmed fenders
- Installed ARB Compressor in the engine bay, because I was anticipating installing 5.29 gears and an already purchased ARB equipped front third, which brings me to my list of un-installed products I've had for a while that I don't know what to do with yet.

Un-Installed Products
- ARB Locked Complete Front Third with 5.29 gears used, but came off a manual hubbed truck
- Rear Diff 5.29 gears with master install kit brand new in the box
- All-pro extended rear brake line brand new in the box
- 4 Black Steel Rims that I was going to use for installing a set of Q78 Swampers on
- FROR Transfer Case Crossmember with brackets and bolts brand new without the box

I'm sure I've forgot some things, and if you have any questions, please ask on the thread and not PM'ing me. I want to make sure everything is included on this thread so potential buyers will have any and all necessary information they need to make a purchase.

I'll update later today with more details as I begin to clean out the truck getting it ready to for sale, including pictures. But, if you want to see recent pictures, do a search under my username, and you'll see all kinds of pictures and threads of the mods and trail runs I've done in this rig.

Chris

Oh my, oh my. I can't believe it!

If you have that much debt you are really doing the right thing though. Debt sucks-I applaud the decision to sell your 4Runner as part of relieving debt.

I appreciate it Brett! I hate to do it, but once I do, we'll do it right next time around. I'll probably build a buggy down the road at some point, but who knows. The goal in the next 6 months is to get rid of this debt, that's for sure.

It's too bad you have to sell the rig. Being out of debt would be good.

But I have to ask, why did you buy a new Tundra?

Well, the honest answer is that my wife has wanted one for over a year now. I wanted to get rid of her car a year ago, but she wouldn't drive the 4runner. It was too manly for her. So, I broke down and we bougt the Tundra so she can have a nice vehicle to drive year round, because she is totally not comfortable driving in the snow in her car. It's terrible in the snow, really!

Hey man! I guess it's official! I'll never live that one down, that's for sure. At any rate, I'm probably going to list the un-installed parts separately, but I haven't had a second to breathe at work here lately.

Hey Andy, here's the link to the web page on FROR's website. It fits both the tacoma's and 4runners. And, from what I understand it's one of the only ways to do the dual cases. Schaeffer has the same one, so I know it works for the duals. It's $239 plus shipping, and I'll do $200 shipped. It's never been installed, just been sitting up on my shelf ever since I bought it, unfortunately.

The crossmember does not clock the case. If you haven't done a drivetrain lift, this crossmember will allow you get rid of the low hanging stock crossmember, but your transfer case is still going to be about 2.5" below the frame rails. If you are going to clock the stock transfer case, this crossmember will not work.

Finally, the pics!

Hey guys,

Sorry for such a long delay getting some pics ups on here. Here's some outside pics, and when I'm done I'm going to get everything out of the interior, get it shampoo'd this week, then once I finish the passenger front fender, I'll get the outside done.

Sorry to see you selling your 4Runner since it's taken so long to get it to where it's at. You might want to add the mileage in your ad.

I should have the exact mileage tomorrow when I pick it up from the detail shop. Sorry for the delay on that, but I'm pretty sure it's roughly 125K give or take a few.
