1985 toyota 4runner with lots of parts, ready to build. PICS!
concord, nc...28025
$3700 with all the parts.
don't be intimidated...make an offer...!
1985, 22re,
i originally bought it from cperry a couple years ago. i took a train to durham and drove it back here to concord. no trouble. was my dd for a couple years. i drove it to greenville (ECU) and back with no problems. as far as i can tell the 4wd works fine.
first the bad (as honest as i can be):
a while back i had some trouble with it cutting off. i figured out the battery wasn't holding a charge. autozone tested the alternator and the battery and said the alternator was bad. anyway i bought one and went to put it in, and found that it wasn't the alternator, it was the wiring to the alternator. so i replaced that and it's been fine since. (btw i still have the new alternator in the box). probably needs a new battery after all that, i don't mind putting in a battery if it doesn't sell for too low.
it doesn't burn any oil, but it does leak some. someone put in a new timing chain before i got it, and i think they did a sub-par job of sealing up the front when they were done.
at some point in it's life it looks like someone dropped something heavy on the tailgate while it was down. it doesn't affect it mechanically, or cosmetically on the outside. it does slow it down when raising or lowering the window. the problem is it causes the glass to rub something when it goes up and down, so the rear glass is scratched. (i have a brand new rear glass). the tailgate either needs to be manipulated from the inside so it won't do that, or be replaced. unless you don't care about it because it's not a big deal really.
other than that i can't think of any other issues.
there is very little rust on this thing. it is a nice survivor of the years. i can't find any frame rust or rust in vital places.
the mileage is about 250,000. Chase put in a newer model (early 90's) 5sp tranny before i got it, and if i remember correctly it has about 70,000 on it.
parts i bought for a build:
* 4 inch bolt in leafs (i think they are skyjacker)
* i also bought the 63" chevys and an extra set of yota rears as another lift option. (i couldn't decide)
* 2 inch lift shackles, brand new.
* brand new leaf spring bushings.
* (2) v6 third members to accept beefier gears.
* brand new in box detroit e-z locker and pinion crush sleeve.
* some cleaner "like new" interior panels for the rear.
* sr5 gauge cluster with the tachometer.
* long travel shocks.
* extended brake lines.
* (there might be something i'm forgetting, i've spent alot of cash on this thing considering i haven't done anything to it yet.)
there is no radio in it. i was going to buy some marine audio equipment (the waterproof stuff they use in boats) so if i had the top or doors off it wouldn't matter. if you want a radio i think i have a cd player or two in the attic i could throw in.

guys at this point i am not really wanting to split this all up. if someone wants to make an offer and buy the runner for the the right price, then i will be happy to start selling off the parts.
c'mon, somebody needs a great trail rig you don't need to trailer!
or just an awesome DD!
