Wheel balancing problem
You guys finally got me hooked up with the "Haweka" adaptor to get my wheels balanced. Took my Tacoma to the stealer this morning and when he balanced the tires using the Haweka he left on the "sticky" weights that were on the inside of the tire. Now I have weights all over the damn place, inside and out. Shouldn't they take off all the weights and start from scratch using the adaptor?? And the damn thing still vibrates the steering wheel and passenger seat. I've been trying to get this fixed for 5 years!!

They should have removed everything and even considered trying to rotate the tire on the wheel 90 degrees at a time to get the best starting point. A buddy of mine was able to get 1 tire balanced for me when he worked at NTB - That wheel looks like a studded leather belt. It works, is ugly, and I know that with the Haweka and Hunter machine that there wouldn't be anywhere near that much weight on there.

Did they give you a 30 day guarantee on the balance? Take off all the original weights and leave their weights on and take it back. Yell at the shop manager or whatever as they all stand around perplexed. Kidding on that one.
Call Toyota customer satisfaction line and have it out with them. Toyota requires the dealer to have the Haweka adapter and Hunter machine - they will deal with a dealer who obviously doesn't use it correctly. You shouldn't have to. After the dealers were forced to upgrade to the Haweka/Hunter package they have received directions from Toyota twice for its proper use.

I can take it back and plan to Monday morning. The guy that did my tires showed me to Haweka adaptor, of course that doesn't mean he knows how to use it. Do you know if you can get a good balance using the "sticky" weights on the inside of the wheel? That crap they put on the outside of the wheel looks like shi-at. From reading previous posts I shouldn't have too many weights on my wheels. They are all over the damn place.

Sticky weights fall off motorcycle wheels so dunno what to tell you. The more weights they can clip to the inside of the wheel instead of outside the nicer the appearance.
