Treadwright Long Term Review (good)

I have been running Treadwrights for quite some time now and I'll give you my results. I first got a set of 31x10.50s back when they were Hi-Tec Retreads. I ran those down over time and they held up great, Bridgestone Dueller carcasses. Wheeled them occassionaly, and never had a problem. Ran like any other tire would. Sold them when they had about 40% (sold the rig) and got my 94 Runner. Second set of treadwrights, 33x12.50R17 on FJ wheels. Fit nicely with my LC/BJ lift. Got the kedge grip this time (April 09). Pro Comp carcasses and D-Mud pattern. After about a year of weekend wheeling and DDing, two began to bulge on the tread voids. I Payne close attention, but kept running them under supervision. As time went on they started to weather crack at the bulges, and the tire tread blocks wore unevenly, down to the voids on the bulging parts. I started to get nervous, so I called treadwright explaining my problem. They had me send in some pictures, which I did. The next day I called back. Joel was nice to help and told me that they didn't carry that size anymore, so they would pro rate some new tires (60% tread left) I asked for 315/70R17 kedge grip.. was 440$ shipped to my door. I said OK. $275 off. I am happy how they treated me, and I can definitely recommend them. I haven't been helped before with tires that went bad period. I will be buying more tires from them when these wear out.

The tires-
The rubber on my 33s has not chunked, even after being beat off road. I put about 15K and they still have 60% tread, which is good for a MT. They vibrate a little on the hiw, but I am pretty sure its from the bulgy tires, as my old 31S were smooth. The kedge grip does seem to help on snow, as 80% of the offroad I do is in snow. It feels like they have traditional siping on slick stuff. The pro Comp carcasses are the weak point I feel. About half as thick as my MTRs on my 90 Runner. But for the price, who cares. I had one nail In a tire, which I plugged fine, otherwise no problems., even aired to 15PSI.

In the end- thumbs up! You really can't go wrong as I still haven't paid as much as buying brand new 33s!

Ill post more pictures soon

The bulging/cracking. Its hard to tell there's a bulge from the photos, the lug on thee 2nd is worn even with the void in part of it

I've got those tires in 31/10.50/15 without the extra grip stuff and they leave something to be desired in the snow. Aired down they are a little better but not much..... well and they have like 40,000 miles on them and are getting a little slick. *grin*

Nice to get a long term review on them. Don't think I'd try to monitor a bulge in the tread tire seperations are no fun.
