tire rotating

Hello guys, i've got a question for every one. What's your preferences on rotating your tires? Such as cross rotating - switching from rear right to front left and rear left to front right... or just switch front and back and keep them on same sides... I've both methods been done, and i just wanted to see what every one here do and see the reasons for doing just that.

I have bfg ko's and i've been told that these tires should be rotated every 3k miles or so, because if i dont, they'd "cup". So here i am, asking for clarification on that.

and damn... i like how wide these tires are!!!

I would do left front to right rear, right rear to right front, right front to left rear, and left rear to left front. Then they will all get even wear. You dont have to do it every 3k, but It wouldnt hurt, the normal is every other oil change.

I do the same as 1989toy4fwd. I just remember to cross the fronts and bring them back, and bring the rears straight to the front. The important thing is to do it the same way each time--write it down somewhere. The second time I did it, I couldn't remember how I did it the first time (which was after a lot of research I had to repeat). Well, not a lot. Some.

Hmmm... I'm overdue. I've got about 9K so far. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow

2 fronts go to the same side on the rear.. and the rears go up front but on the opposite side of which they were originally on

My manual actually has a diagram for tire rotation - it shows what 1989toy4wd said to do.

This diagram actually agrees with mine and 1989toy4wd's scheme and not yours, unless you have a front wheel drive only Toyota. And yeah, I got it originally out of the manual.

all you got to remember is cross your non drive tires. so all of us on here should be crossing out fronts. except for those of you that come on yotatech for your toyota camrys

the two most effective way to rotate your tires is your fronts cross to the rears and the rears come straight up or the rears cross to the fronts and the fronts come straight back. thats how we do it at work.. or if ou have directional tires you just go front to back.

Basically it depends on the type of tire you use, as well as the type of vehicle you have.

rotate every oil change for me; front tires cross over to the rear, rear comes straight forward. when I finally wear out my BFG AT's (45,000 miles and counting with about 50% tread left) I will be rotating a spare in there; I will sub the spare in at the rear drive wheel, extends your tire life and keeps a good spare when you need it with a matching wheel and everything.

a pet peeve of mine, and I see this all the time, is folks with worn down tires and a matching but brand new spare. Dude, WTF? rotate that thing in there!

I think every 5k is a good oil/tire rotation interval personally
