here's some hindsight from me -- if you can, get at least the center lugs siped. i forgot to add to my last post, they're great on the road unless you have a really light truck like me and its raining. almost rear ended a guy the other day who pulled out in front of me, locked up the brakes. siping could definitely help that problem

I am such an idiot, and didn't have Discount match prices when I got my BFG's, and consequently payed way too much.  Learn from my example and find the cheapest price, and have them match it!

FWIW, I have measured my 3 year old 32x10.50 Swamper Radials, mounted on 15x8" rims and they measure EXACTLY the same height as my friend's brand new 34X10.50 LTBs on 15x7" rims. Both sets of tires were at street pressure of about 29 psi. My junk is the blue one, his is the green one:

(That pic of my truck is when the tires were only about 1 year old).

that green POS is mine and i LOVE these tires, great off road, my last trip i was runnin w/ 2 4R's one on MTR's and one on PC mt's, the LTB's are better and soooo cheap, that being said beatertoyota is right, they measure pretty much the same as his tires and they're supposed to be 2" bigger

on the road, yeah they're loud (getting louder with age) but they drive fine, they'll get flat spots in the colder months, and they dont do very well in the rain, but unless you have some lbs in the bed most tires dont do that well, oh and my rig is a DD

LTBs have more traction but wear slightly faster, TSLs have very slightly less traction but last a tiny bit longer. LTBs mainly just fit into gaps in the TSL lineup and has bigger lugs and a cooler design IMO

Im going to have to disagree. LTB's may have a bigger outer lug, but they also generally have a shorter tread depth(which is part of the reason they wear quicker, they come with less tread), and the center lugs are spaced closer together while being slightly staggered, which doesnt exactly help them clean, but at least they make up for it by spacing the outer lugs really far appart, which helps and hurts. For the price they are hard to beat, but comparably sized orriginal TSL's will generally work better and bite harder than an LTB, on the rocks the wider and slightly softer LTB may have an advantage, but thats about it IMHO.

I've had no problems with my tires self cleaning in fact they clean very well and they bite hard, I've got an open diff and so far can follow a locked truck everywhere. As far as the centre lugs being closer together I dunno I think its negligible, I know a couple people with reg TSLs and the gaps are essentially the same. Tread depth yes is a little less...2/32nds less then 33x12.50s but more then some and less then others, but from what I've seen and heard reg TSLs wear faster on pavement then LTBs and are less forgiving if your alignment/tire pressure is off. Compared to the radials tho the LTBs have more tread.
