ya, beach work is one of the few places off road where A/T's are better than M/T's ... problem being that M/T's dig in too much. A/T's just float better on sand.

@grant, i know airing down makes pretty much anything easier on the dunes, i was just correcting a statement i had said earlier in the thread about driving all over the dunes without airing down... as the sand is getting drier i now need to air down.

Sorry Crinale, I wasn't trying to correct you. I was agreeing that airing down makes a world of difference, especially as you said, as the sand dries out.

The British SAS (special forces) used to wear the tread off the tires BEFORE using them for dessert use.

I'll vouch for airing down as well. Its pretty obvious that it would work, but it amazed me just how much it did help.
