Good tires, but loud on the road, and soft compound will only get about 20,000 miles before they are bald.

I just bought a very slightly used set of these...hope they are good. I searched the web, and the only negative thing I have read is about the life span as far as miles. My truck is not my DD, so I just want a good performer on the rocks and sand here in So Cal...and judging from their tread pattern and softer compound, I am sure they will work great.

My buddy has 33x15x18's on his '01 Silverado, and they look badass. They self-clean like crazy in mud (can you say roostertails? lol), and they're not too loud at least in his truck, but he says they suck in the snow.

Too bad. Maybe Goodyear Wrangler MT/R is better choice?

I've run mine now for 12K. They are soft but not a loud as I would have expected for such a big lug tire. The only problem I am seeing is they tend to chunk off. I have two lugs gone now and I have heard of others having the same problem. Also the pack up in mud and don't self clean like a Mud tire does. They are priced right but i would invest a little more and go with the GY MTR's. Much better tire in my opinion.

I have a set of33x12.5 MTRs, and they do work very well. balance nicley, not overly loud on the road, prefrom very well offroad(not a mud tire, but an aggresive AT). Mine are siped with 25000km on them, and they are still in great shape, at least 80%

I have a set on my pickup and land cruiser. I have over 30k on them with the cruiser and they have about 1/4 or MORE left. The ones on the truck still look new with some where around 20k. Both have been wheeled and I've not had issues like other with losing HUGE chucks, rather pea size pieces. I think the weight of your truck is going to dictate wear much more than making a generaliztion on the tire. The balance is hard to keep after they start to wear and the wear pattern is not even, more of a feathered pattern on each lug. But when they are new, the is ride very nice. Another thing, they will rumble at 5-10 and it gets worse as they wear, but for a directional tire it's very acceptable. Overall for price, performance, wear and looks I've felt that my money was spent well, but I would question buying them again. And they get louder as they wear, my 'crusier isn't so quiet anymore.

I'll add that in clay mud/greasy mud they don't work so well and just fill up. In desert silt mud they work better and I've not tried to bury it is soupy stuff so I don't know. Also in sand they will digg you to China if you don't take air out, then still they really like to digg. In the snow, you better air them WAY down or else you will have no latteral stability. Once they are down, not bad, but expect to slide some on side hills.

I agree with the price and looks but after chunking these I really don't think I would buy another set. For the record mine chunked on the highway not on the trail. I heard several loud thumps on the way back from Gilmer. It was extremely hot out and I don't know if it was the combo of heat and asphalt but it shocked me that they would do that. I will run my Xterrains until they pop but I am starting to look for some new skins. Maybe they will improve them if enogh people have problems. IMHO

I have Inventory the next weekend so I will be busy getting ready for it. It is the one time per year we get graded and my bonus depends on it being perfect. I wish I could make it to ICBM but just buying a house and Momma trying to furnish it I need all the $$$$ i can put my hands on. How about the Texas Takeover in Oct.......you going to make it?

Have had a set of 25x12.5's on my '81 for aprox 50k mi. They're not so great now but lasted really well and worked great off road. puncture resistance was awesome. Would buy them again but they're a little pricey and I want something with a little better slick road condition handeling. These things will churn in DEEP snow and keep ya moving foreward, but I have to work to keep it pointed the direction I want. Locker in the back might have something to do with that.
