New Goodyear MTR w/ Kevlar
#21
I know this thread is old.. But I was deciding between the km2's, the nitto trail grapplers, and the new Goodyear Kevlar mt/r's. After doing TONS of research, I decided not to get the km2. After reading a Four Wheelers truck magazine "mud tire shoot out" review, and matching that up with many different reviews online and on some yotatech threads, it appears that it does fine on road, and offload, but it has a very hard time cleaning out thick mud from the tread. I was originally looking at getting the km2's... But now I'm still deciding between the trail grapplers and mtrs. I have always hated nitto.. They're the tire you see on the trucks that tow boats to the lake and nothing else. But the trail grapplers caught my eye and I have heard many good things about them. Although if you look at their side lugs, you'll see a line of rubber over them, and in deeper mud it prevents the side lugs from getting cleaned out. But they will do great in rock, sand, shallow mud, and still great on pavement for an M/T.
I am not a big fan of the MT/R's look... But they do really good in all kinds of mud and clean very well. They also do nice to drive with on the road as well. So if anyone has had experience will both MT/R and Trail Grapplers, let me know and please tell me why you liked whichever one better.
My local tire shop has 8 MT/Rs in stock for $260 each. I can also order the nittos though them for $279 each... So let me know!
Thanks.

Btw this is the link to the mud tire shoot out. And if the nittos and goodyears are really really close in performance and price.. Then I'll probably go with the nittos. I just think they look better.

Talk about an old thread ?.
I have 37x12.50-15 MT/R`s on my 86 4Runner, there a good tire and seem to get over just about everything. I would recommend them to anyone, but its really decision on what you decide to buy.
