My '84 DLX 4x2 Got Some New Shoes

Finally got the 2" drop kit off and restored her to factory height so my new wheels/tires would fit. They are 225 70/15 Firestone Destination LE2's on a set of Jeep Wrangler 15x7's that I painted myself. A custom blend Toyota Magnetic Gray. They are a tad wide for my tastes but it is very hard to find LT tires in 225 60/15 flavor.

Word to the wise... it ain't NO FUN doing suspension work like restoring ride height by yourself with only a few shop jacks. PITA

It looks so much better. On another forum a young guy did not know the green washes off the lettering so it becomes white. It's a preservative and usually the tire shop washes it off for you. Just in case no one told you. Those are fun trucks.

Thanks guys... kinda debating now to sell these before I have any miles on them and get 215/75R15's in their place. I love the look and stance... jus not alot of room for error when hitting potholes and bigger bumps. Already getting some scrub sounds, grrrr. I have new KYB gas-adjust shocks all around... not sure if upgrading to Bilstein's will give me enuff cushion without going to a 2" lift. Figure it may be more economical to go with the smaller height tire vs an economical and safe way to bump both the front and rear 2". I know I can do either 2" riser springs like Old Man Enu and such to take care of the rear, or flip the springs to the top of the axle. The front suspension I think is a bit trickier and not as cheap to do.

Oh... I purchased the tires online and had them mounted and balanced at a local shop. They didn't install them cause I had to take off the drop kit and restore to factory height before I mounted them. Jus not had a chance to bathe her yet

I was wondering if you'd have some issues with rubbing. I'd really like to get 15" for my 90 Pickup 4x2 but I'm worried they'll rub. There are just so many better options for 15" tires vs the 14".

Jus get some 215/75R 15's and you should be groovy with stock 2WD setup and no issues.

On a side note... Firestone is not the same Firestone that used to put junk tires on vehicles and have factory blowouts. They are now owned by Japan manufacturer Bridgestone Tire and they are considered a 'Bargain Performance Tire' brand now.

I have Ruby up on stands now to do a brake refresh all 4 wheels and I am def gonna look at bumping the front and rear another 2". Only bad thing with me is I have the A43D automatic and you have to be very careful with lifts and auto linkage from all my research. Think it may be time to find a donor 5-speed and pedals to throw in while I am doing the updates. If your suspension is healthy and you have a good brand shock all around... you should be fine with those 215/75-15's.
