Mud Bog Tire Choice Dilemma

Mud Bog Tire Choice Dilemma
I need some opinions. There's a mud bog Saturday I'm going to. I usually run my 34x9.50 TSLs on 15x7 wheels. They are extrememly light, tall, and narrow. They are very easy to turn over. I also have a set of tires I run on the road and in the local mud. These are 35x12.50 Baja Claw Radials on 15x10 wheels. The claws and the tsls really are only about an inch difference in height.
While I do like the tsls, they don't hook up quite as much as the claws. They do better in mud bogs because I have more power to turn them, they cut into the mud better, and they dont drag much. The claws, on the other hand, hook up really well, they just weigh a lot more, don't cut through really thick mud as well, and I can't turn them over quite as fast.
So Saturday, instead of running my TSLs as usual, I'm throwing around the idea of running two TSLs in the front and two claws in the back. This way the lighter tires would be easy on my cvs, cut through the mud well, and then (in theory) my claws in the rear would do the hooking up and forward pushing and would finish off the narrow rut the front tires leave behind. What do you guys think? TSLs front, claws rear, or TSLs all around?

so are you mud drag racing or mud bogging?
for mud drag racing id go with the 34's all the way around. like you said they cut threw the mud better and also free up a lil power.
for a mud bog id go with the wider tire to help stay on top!
the best drag tire i have used for the 4cyl's are the 35x10.50 boggers. good off the line traction, tall and skinny to cut threw the mud. i have won a stack of trophies with those tires!

see I would think it's the other way around...
wider tire to keep you on top, for the faster mud racing, and a skinnier tire so that it'll sink down and grab hard bottom when bogging. but I guess the skinny tire for bogging is only going to work really good if either the bog isn't all that deep, or the tire is like those tractor tires

but at the same time, you do see plenty of guys run the wider tires as well...

oh, and off subject, but in the same "album: of those pictures, this is probably one of the most awesome pictures I've ever taken here

we have a saying for boggers around here...
you either go, or you break
I ran boggers once (even though they were half bald
they were free though, so no complaints)... I didn't get stuck... but I did have smoke pour from my trans after ROASTING the clutch, lmao

Here is an example of a re-grooved racing tire

Or a grooved swamper:

You don't necesarily need to re shape the tread like has been done to this swamper, but just go around the outline of the tread, to liven it up a bit

no grooving them means to take out some lugs, and take out acsess rubber to lighten it.
they sell blanks so that you can groove you own pattern. try the claws on the back see how it goes! i think they would just slow you down though.

Oh well I don't wanna cut up my tsls in case I might want to sell them one day.
After, bolting the front two tsls on and driving it down my lane, I decided to just run the tsls all the way around. There's a big difference in the power even with only two claws still on. They're heavy somvabeaches. That's what I ran last time and it worked well (I won the 4 and 6 cyl class). So I figured I won't fix what's not broken. The mud bog is at Southern Virginia Motorsports Park in Jarratt, VA. The website is www.southernvirginiamotorsportspark.com . It's not a very big place but they put on an alright mud bog and it's organized well. And they are one of only two or three places around here that has a 4 and 6 cylinder class.
