I am suriously considering these in a 285/75 size for my Runner. From what I have read they seem like really good tires for the money (120 a tire at www.tirerack.com)

Any opinions/ experiences with them? I wont be much rock crawling at all, just mud and trails.

ive been running a set of 31x10.5 for..... gosh..... 5? years now.

They have been great for midwest woods wheeling i do. no more noisy than a BFG MT.

they are softer than my Kumho AT's. Ive only run them in the winter/wheeling and swap back and forth between the MT's and AT's

id say i have 30K on them total with about 40% left (perhaps less)

i suffer from some chunking on the out tred blocks but thats a function of the fact they are soft and ive got a heavy truck. At 20lbs they flex like most jeeps i wheel with do on 8 psi.

side walls are great. i had a flat in the rear that i inadvertnly drove on on gravel roads for like 20 min before i finnally stoped after the back end broke loose the second time. I pulled the nail out, patched it with a plug, filled it up and have been useing it ever sence.

with some wheel spin the outer lugs self clean but the center can say packed.

wet traction isnt the best but neither are most mud tires with little-no sipeing.

 

kumho product tend to be good for the price, my sister has used their tires, so did my neigbor, they both liked em

Seems like a pretty well kept secret for $120 a tire. . . I think I am giong to get them once my Michelins wear out.

 

exactly the tires I was considering next but in a 265/75 size. Not trying to go crazy big. Check the reviews on tirerack. Seems like a good tire for the money, somebody on here had pics of them on a 3rd gend, brand new. Search for Venture MTs, and it should pull it up. Seem to have better treadwear than a lot of the mud tires out there, some poeple on tire rack reported as much as 55k. Not bad at all.

How do you like them, and did you notice much of a loss of gas mileage?

 

They look pretty road friendly, but what do the numbers say?

 

I've only been running mine for about 2 weeks now, but mileage does not seem to have suffered too much. I'm one of "those guys" that was able to regularly get 315 miles on a tank of gas until the warning light came on. Now, it seems the light comes on at about 300 miles. I went from the stock 265/70/16 to 265/75/16. So far, I'm very happy. I did have them siped, but only on the center tread blocks. I think this makes them a bit quieter and maybe a bit better mileage, but it's probably splitting hairs. Overall, I'm quite pleased. Also, if you're near a Discount Tire or America's Tire, they will price match TireRack.com.

I run the 31's on my nissan, heres a pic from this weekend at haspin. Had them down to 10lb's and they work great in the mud, and rocks. I got about 10k on mine now, and you can hardly tell there worn. They are no louder than any other m/t. I've also had no problems with them in rain, snow, and ice.

 

I think I am going for a set too

285 75 16

Will be used on the highway, city and offroading, alot of use on sand. What do you think? a good choice?
