I havent heard much about this tire which is prolly a bad thing but i thought i would see if anyone is or has ran these. I spend most of the time on the road but like to play some too.. these looked cool but are they worth a damn??

My dad had a set of Khumos on his truck a couple of years ago. They were ok on pavement and wore good but my little brother was following me through a trail and got stick punctures to two side walls. I had to give him my spare. I wouldn't want them on a sketchy trail. Good ride on the street though, just not tough enough for me.

Got a few 80 and 100 series guys running them and had no problems on the trails.

These we had might have been seconds. I don't know that they were but they were brand new and my dad only paid $20 a piece for them. A friend that owns a car lot was getting them cheap from out of town.

What size are you gonna run? by the looks of it you would have to have the smaller 15" rims or big ol' 18"s

These tires are gunna do terrible in the rain, or snow. they have virtually no sipings, yeah, they look cool as hell, but they're not practical. I was actually looking into those exact tires this last weekend, and the tire guy talked me out of them.

Just so you know, the tire guys job is to sell tires for the most profit possible. Whether these tires are good or not, if they don't pay as good, it is his JOB to talk you out of the low priced tires and into something more expensive. The tire guy does NOT have experience with these tires. I bet the tires he talked you into cost WAY more.\

Not trying to cut anybody but the guy asked for people with EXPERIENCE with these tires, not a commissioned teenagers opinion. Why aren't they practical/ It would depend on the usage, I found these tires to be excellent on road, just not on trail.

Opinions are like @$$holes, just start asking someone who has something to gain and you will hear a million different stories, depending on how much they have to gain. And none of them will relate real world experience. These stores have a training program where they try to get their help to talk like you, it only takes one question to eND that problem.

Sometimes the parts sellers, will have people pushing their product without disclosing the fact.

Shop HARD for an item with this much economc and potential for stability failure.

The guys at your local Wal Mart or Advance or Goodyear/Firestone store have about as much experience with cars as they do women, loo at hi and size hi up, then get a quote from a REAL parts store.

Care to explain "siping" and why this particular tire would compare unfavorably to another tire? What is siping and in YOUR experience how has the lack of siping on this tire affected it's performance for you?

I am just asking because we have an opinion here with NOTHING to back it up. If you have experience with Khumo tires please relate.

i will be running 31 10.5 15's. I know what siping is but here in southern illinois we only get about 2 or 3 snows a year. and not a lot of heavy rains so that shouldnt be to big of an issue. Does light rain affect non siped tire as bad??

Total BS is what the "tire guy" sold you. Sorry, those tires are just fine for a directional. They have more than enough siping to give latteral stability, that is why it is only on the side lugs. If you think siping will give you any major advantage in the rain think again. The BFG mud terrain has ZERO siping and thousands can attest to the stability of those tires. Now the super swamper SSR radials with globs of siping will spin you off a wet road. Siping is not a reason to pass on a tire.

Some places will sipe the tires if it means that much to you.

So far, I love them! Read the reviews on TireRack.com and they are rated very well. I've got 31x9.5 (wished I would have gone up to the 10.5 though)on my 88 Runner. They are quite on the road (which shocked me), and they dig great in the sand and gravel. I'm very impressed with them.

they are a good tire i sell a few as well as the dayton MT's (for cheaper mt's) not all tire guys are dumbass dicks.....lol

Ran them on my 4runner for about 6 months. They are the best handlind mud tyre I've driven on, both on wet and dry pavement. Were good offroad with there soft compound, but were wearing very quickly!

I staked one on a gravel road somehow (just bad luck I think)..Went to 17" rims soon after and am now running MTZ's.

Do you have any more pics of your Kumhos, Twisty? I've yet to find a picture of that tire on a rim less than 18"s
