full size spare tire rim, should it be the same as the other wheels for 2007 RAV4

Hi,

We have a 2007 RAV4 Limited with Alloy rim and used the full size spare tire today and noticed that the RIM does not match the one on the wheels. There is no Toyota nameplate in the center. I tried to use the nameplate from the flat tire and put on the spare, but it does not fit as the wheel center rod will poke it out. The lug nuts have a washer and the washer does not engage on the spare, where it does on the tire rim of the non-spares.

Just wonder if that is the way factory settings have it, or was my spare swapped out by someone during the many times we went to shops for maintenance.

If someone have a 2007 RAV4 Limited or similar vehicle or another toyota, please help confirm if the full size spare rim should have a the nameplate and should look the same as the other tires.

Thank you in advance.

*note I have add this post to the tire forum, as it was previously posted onto the general area that excludes years specific posts.

Your ok. Lots of rav4's have a steel rim full size. And your alloy lugnuts will work just fine .

If its ur first time using ur spare ... don't assume your car came with an alloy spare.

Hi 7m4x4dude,

Thank you for your answer. Just slightly different, my spare is also an alloy wheel, not steel, see pics bellow.

Here is a pic of the spare:

Here is a pic of the original:

Note: they are both alloy. The plastic logo plate can be taken out of the original, but not put on the spare, as it will get pocked out when installed. The lug-nuts on the original has a washer that is not engaged when used on the spare.

The spare is NOT alloy, its (painted) steel. Go get a magnet-will stick to it and not the original wheel.

The center cap will not work with it either, requires a different centercap that came on the ravs with steel wheels. The lugs are fine on there as well.

If you want, you can get an alloy spare wheel-order from toyota or buy it used fron a junkyard.

Hope that clears this up.
