Bridgestone Dueler Revos or BFG AT KOs?

Overdue for new shoes. Revo or BFG AT KO? Going for 3" lift (4th gen 4r) and 265/70/17 tires.

The Costco guy warned me about BFG's road noise, but I think it may perform better in mud. The Revo seems to do better in snow and rain, and are perhaps longer lasting.

Any comments will be greately appreciated, especially on the road noise that I'm concerned about.

If you do true off roading regularly then go with the BFGs but if you see more pavement than dirt then go with a better suited tire plus the BFGs are not cheap when compared to what else is out there for the same purpose. BFGs ride on their popularity since people so ignore their shortcomings when it comes to on-road performance.

BFG AT.
those tires are silent, if you think they are loud you are DEFINITLY in the wrong sport. Also the bfgs will actually perform offroad.

BTW....WTF are you listening to cosco tire salesman about a good tire choice for 4wheeling, he'll probably come back some puzzy response reguarding road noise, oh wait thats exactly what he did, try my bias ply tsl's for a chicago winter, or my buddys boggers!!!

My BFGs have lasted 5+ years so far. I have never had a flat tire or leak either.

They tend to hydroplane if there is enough water on the roadway. I don't know if it rains more in SFO than it does in Seattle.

Rishi,

My questions before giving you a recommendation:

1) Do you even wheel? If so, what % of the time will you wheel?
2) What conditions will you wheel in? Mostly dirt? Mud? Easy trails?
3) What is your budget?
4) Do you just want "the look"?

For me, I had three tires in mind before I got Revos: BFG Muds, BFG ATs and Revos. I chose Revos b/c I do occassionally wheel (less than 5 times a year) but not in terrains that require muds. Sure, MTRs would make my 4runner look buff, but I'm not going to shell out that kind of money to have the "look" at the expense of greater road noise (as compared to Revos), no 50k warranty, etc.

Mostly onroad get Revo's

Mix of on/offroad get the BFG's-the Revo's are good offroad but the sidewalls are really weak.

man ... this has been discussed sooooo many times ... like most other posts you've made regarding things like the lift kit, etc., i ask -- do you ever try the search button?? as far as i know, you don't use the search button, you don't listen to what people say when you ask them a question because you just start a new thread asking the same question again, and instead of going out with guys like bulldog-yota who invite you to see these different parts in action you just think wayyyyy too hard about these things!

if you did a search at all, you would see that most people with the BFG A/Ts do NOT have an issue with the "noise" factor, as it is hardly noticeable. also, many of the 4th gen. guys are running the Revos and have written a great deal about their performance here. do a search for "4th gen* revo*" and you'll see. in the reviews section of this forum, you will also see an entire thread devoted to discussing the BFGs. similarly, many people have started threads asking the exact question you have here - "should i get Revos or BFGs??" and have received many good replies.

i suggest you try the search button and read up on the experiences others have had.

I agree.

The BFG ATs are basically silent compared to many other decent offroad tires. you want some noise? try running the MTRs on a highway. even then though, they aren't loud enough to notice much.

The only complaint I have about the BFGs is, like most other people have mentioned in other threads, their performance in the rain.

Seriously though ... go out with bulldog or whoever (as I KNOW he has invited you since you were asking so much about the sway bar hitting the coils which no, doesn't happen) and see how the Revos perform.

I would have to say REVO's if you dont offroad too much, use your truck more as a DD. I just ordered mine at costco. I have had many people recommend them to me, I cant wait to get them installed later this week (had to special order them). I think they are the perfect tire for me because 1: I dont offroad too often, 2: when I do offroad, its not in 1 foot deep mud, 3: they are quiet for the aggresive tread design (ill have to confirm this after they are installed) and 4: they are moderately priced, less than michelins. and 50k mile warrenty. hope this helped, make sure you order tires based on your need, not on look or just based on price.

If you spend anytime at all in the mud the do not get the Revos, great looking tire but not something that is for any sort of wet/mud use.

That was my concern, since I do go into wet mud on some trails. My experience with stock Dueler H/T was terrible: very little control even though I never actually got stuck. I guess in that situation the groves fill up and the tire edges give better traction, in which case the BFGs are more aggressive. However, I hope the road noise from BFGs at 75mph is not annoying. What's your experience? BTW, I'm not concerned about hydroplaning in rain since I drive carefully. But I do venture out in unpacked snow (e.g. on White Mountain and near Telescope Peak, Death Valley in CA). The H/T were a nightmare!

I'd go with the BFGs...they're not noisy at all, just slightly louder then stock tires...good wear, good traction. Revos look sweet but I wouldn't want em offroad

sigh. please, please try the search feature ..

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f105/bfg-ts-56510/ - BFG A/T reviews, note that most people didn't have an issue with the "noise" factor
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/tires-road-noise-revos-46724/ - Revo road noise thread, note that some people said they were noisier than the BFGs

the idea then is that it's really an opinion thing - some people think the BFGs are quieter, some think the Revos are. the bottom line is that any A/T tire is going to be a bit louder than the stock tires, but still not as noticeable as you're thinking.
