Im looking to run these tires on my 85 runner in a 32x11.5x15. I couldnt believe that theyre only $20 more than the A/T.
Are they really quieter than the KM1? How many miles can I expect to get out of them?

These tires have only been out for a year in 16" rim sizes and above, and out less than a month in 15" rim sizes. Vermejo and a few others on here are running these in a 35.

So, I doubt anyone has real world wear experience yet. They'll be able to help you with the noise question though.

 

Yep, I doubt anyone will really have much to say about them..YET. Give it some time, I will probibly go with them for my next tire though..

i have 5 tires on my sure are bfg radial a/t no white wall and my other tires on my 4runner which i bought brand new 4 are bfg a/t no radial and they have white wall on the side i want...
whats the diff in tires radial and not??

Ive run BFG A/T and somtimes they just didnt cut it.
Any downsides to the Mud terrain KM2?

 

2 guys in my club have them in 35" tire size. They are running FJ-80 wagons, and thus have a "cush" ride.

They complain about the noise.

 

They just look rad too

 

I just rode in an Excursion on 35's this weekend. The noise was noticable but not deafening. The owner said he thought they were quite a bit quieter than the old MT's on that truck.

I had thought about switching - but after that ride I think I'll stick with AT's.

 

How are you guys getting prices on 15" sizes? Everywhere I look they are only 16" and up sizes right now. I'm waiting on the release of the 15" sizes. Edit: I see now that 4WPW link. Good Lord they want $380 each for the 33 x 12.50 15??? That must be a misprint.

I guess the 33s are in more of a demand?

Do you think these BFG tires were nosier than other mud terrains... or that mud terrains are just plain nosier than AT's?

I am used to the mud terrain hum. Kind of find it soothing in a sick way.

But I am up to bat for some new tires soon and am considering these BFG's as an alternative to the MTR's I have been using. Longevity is my biggest concern however.

good grief the 35" krawlers are $350

 

The MT's are obviously going to be MUCH louder and rougher on the road than an AT. The AT is a good crossover tire, meaning, if you do mostly road driving, and get in the dirt from time to time, they are a great tire.

Even if you do more than just the occasional dirt jaunt, they are a good tire. I've been running AT's for 9 years of wheeling now. They actually do pretty well:





However, this year in Moab, and in both of the runs pictured above, I found the AT's to be SEVERELY lacking in traction. They hold up well, but do not grip the rock as well as needed in a more vertical situation. Both obstacles were conquered, but the first took a lot of maneuvering, and the second took a small tug on a winch.

I am buying a set of these new KM2s for my next set of tires. Loud and rough don't bother me, since it will un-noticeable in my truck. I'm running a 22 year old rig with torsion bars, and leaf springs. The dual cases have double the gear hum noise, as well as the 22re, while not the loudest motor out there, is quite a hubub while driving.

Looking forward to the reviews.

 

Isaac, I'm kinda feeling the same way. The rocks out here are sharp, and so the extra sidewall strength is great, but I also have found the traction on the AT's to be subpar on certain (read:steep) obstacles. However, being that my truck's my DD and sees more asphalt than dirt, typically, I also need something that's not gonna wear down in less than a year. Road noise doesn't bother me too much, either.

I've been watching the prices on the KM2's. I hope they go down a bit. I may just have to deal with the AT's. I suppose I'll just have to pick my lines better...

 

But I hate picking lines.

 

I have the KM2 in the 32x11.50/15 on my Tacoma. I just replaced some 3 month old KM's with them. The km2's are a little quieter, but I had to have them roadforce balanced to get rid of a vibration problem I was having. I also think that I was running too high of an air pressure in them. Each tire was about $230 from Discount Tires.
