Ok "Best Tires" and "Toyo" don't go together. IMO

Oh and heres your Toyo AT's on a Exploder that I saw flop up at Evans Creek this past Saturday.

I'll give the tires credit, he made it most of the day up at Evans Creek. Except in the mud, they failed hardcore =) .. and that truck came out completely demolished.

OT but we picked it up (like 6 guys) .. then tied a tow strap to the inside of the cab to keep it from rolling again then winched it up this part of the trail.

He didnt roll it again (damn close) but tore both tailights off and made the opposite (not hte side he rolled on) look worse than the side he rolled on by the end of "his day" .. LoL .. oh boy Evans Creek rocks

I would reccomend BFG KM2's. I have 33's on right now and like me, everyone will attest they ride great for a M/T. Very good tire! Beats the HELL out of a AT (of any brand, they just suck man) I dont like AT's in any condition even snow. Meh

thats my opinion tho (on AT's) but the BFG Mud Terrain KM2 is a SUPERB tire. Wish I could keep running a KM2 but I can't afford to buy new wheels to fit a 37 km2 =( no 15" ... so lame BFG!

He said his truck is a DD and never mentioned much else and you guys are recommending maybe tires that are a bit much on a daily driver. M/Ts are a bad choice for a truck that pounds the pavement over 90% of the time and you rack up alot of miles on that pavement.

we need more info to recommend a good tire. Off road much? What kind of off roading will be one? How many miles do you drive a year?

I thought and read about KM2s and pirelli scorpion ATRs.Then I read about the toyo open country and they got rave reviews from consumers.Only OR I will be doing are trails to camp grounds.I want a meaty tire for pavement daily driving that is excellent in snow/rain/ice.Tires on my 4x4 are size 31X10.5X15.This is my first non-car vehicle.I dont care if it cost me 800 dollars,I want to buy the right tire the first time.I drive about 20K a year. Thanks guys.

Maybe look at a set of Yokohama Geolandar AT-S or maybe Revos or maybe Michelin LTX which I've never really read anything bad about.

michelin mtx m/s, bought them back in 2004. it's not bald nor thin. has wide should shoulders which enhances handling. My previous Goodyear rts lasted me 2 years, the Michellins 5. It cost around 165. Would have lasted longer than 2 sets of RTS. It's cost effective.

I blasted through flooded I-5 between Mt Vernon and the Hill on the way to the Casino; these don't hydroplane. Went up hill on Boren in Seattle during last years 2009 winter snow; starting at Honda Seattle and ending up at Swedish Medical. I drive 70-80 on highways and corner as the crucifix dangles at a 45 degree angle. My old goodyears had worn outside shoulders. btw with Nitrogen air in them I never had to refill since 2004.

Cooper Discoverer S/T's.
Long life, good in snow, the pavement doesnt hurt em.
they're sort of loud at 60mph or more.

Do not get Toyo A/Ts... expensive as hell, but not worth it. I have them and have barely put 25k miles on them. I expect them to last to maybe 35k.

once again i will say, BFG km2's AT's or MT's suck, they are the softest tire on the market, in which they will wear faster on a heavier car. they are fine for picups but a 4runner they will not be the greatest. the best tire i would say to go with a a bridgestone dueler AT. lasts longer than a BFG and its cheaper.

i work at americas tire so i experience all the worn to hell BFG's that come in
and the MTX is a great tire but its not really "cool" looking and its not very aggressive..

I had a set of bridgestone's on a past truck...took the hit and replaced them after a few thousand miles...IMO hard compound, wouldn't stop for anything when it was wet....too many close calls...

I have Toyo's on my '81--they wear fast. granted they are Toyo Open country MT's..

i agree with drew303 i got a set of Toyo A/T's and hate them they do horrible offroad, and ive had the tires balanced and i still get this aweful shimmy at 65. i LOVED my Trxus tires much better they were on my DD and i got better handling and off road driving. i already bought a set of Mudstar tires havent put em on yet but they look good but not so much sidewall siping.
