I know this is beat to death, but I cant seem to find the answer Im needing. Im looking at a set of tires and wheels that have 3 1/2" backspacing. I have fender flares on my 85 4runner. Would 3 1/2" be enough to put the tire at least level with the outside of the flare. The tires I have on it right now have, I think, about 3 3/4" or 4" of backspacing. It looks like to me they need to stick out another 2" to be level with the flare. Im not sure how much the flares add, maybe an 1" wider then normal. So Im thinking I need a set of wheels with 2" of backspacing if I understand backspacing math at all.
