*90's Steelies paint*

Well few of you know that after my wreck I took off my old rims and tires cause I knew they were going to total it, Well while they are off I figure I'd give em a fresh paint job..The 90's steelies are the stock ones that came off of my 91, the PO painted them black, and as you see didnt do a good job. This is a work in progress, and I've never painted anything before, except a piece of paper in the 2nd grade..So check it out. Oh, Im not saying what color im painting them, and Algranger if you blurt it out...well.. Other 2, just got done rinsing off Great job preping tard...:

Not trying to be Buzz Killington, but...

I did the exact same thing Scuba: after a wreck I salvaged the rims, cleaned them up and painted them only to find that I could not get one to balance out. Turns out it was slightly bent out of round (I didn't catch it). I found another but it was frustrating putting all that work into it

Sexy.

Did you scuff them up first? If not it will just chip off. I would go 220

Al, Im going to stop back at ace and get a coarser wire wheel (see pic one) and some 220 and more primer...And big T, Im not painting my tires, if you look close (pic 4) You can see the tape, the paper wanted to be a PITA...and that was good enough...

First one after a couple coats and a couple coats of clear gloss. I see alot of view but not many posts. What ya think peeps ? EDIT: Yes, Over spray is a biotch, the next 2 tires will be better protected, Im thinking the paint on the tire will crack off after I air up and down and get some miles, What do you think..? And if I get hasty and get some paint thinner will it harm the rubber ?

Those look great! I'd love to see them mounted now. Also, for future reference a good idea I once saw was to use like standard 3x5 index cards around the whole edge to make a wall to block out paint from getting on the tires.
