255/85-16 Cooper Discoverer S/T

I've been looking at the 255/85-16 tires available and have been wanting some but could only find Mud Terrains in that size. I think there are only 3 styles of this size in the US (from my searches) and one is a street tire.

Australia has a lot of variety when it comes to this size, and also 15 inch rims in the 33x10.5x15... But 16", just two mud terrains and thats it...

I found a 255/85-16 Cooper Discoverer S/T in this size and started tracking it down... but was mostly sold in Australia. But I think I found a company in Cerritos CA, Discounted Wheel Wharehouse that is selling them in that size. I also include an article in which they like these better than the BFG MT or AT.

Has anyone ran this tire?

I'll get pics when the server is back up.

But to answer your questions, they are wearing great, I've got about 10K on them now and they still look great. Off road, they are a beast, mud and rocks are quite nice with them. They aren't super stiff either so washboard roads are not too bad either. Snow and ice, great, and deep snow, oh yeah. High way noise isn't as bad as i thought, but it's still there. I think this summer I'm going to pick up a set with studs for the winter time.

it's back up, was looking at your truck. Looks good with those on. What did you have to do to fit them? Lift, trimming? What gears are you running with them? How do they effect you mpg's?
Are the lugs pretty aggresive, hard to tell from the pics..

Here ya be, some more photos:

The trimming was very very minimal, it's hard to say exactly where it is because of the few spots that they do rub. And I have no lift, as of now, hehehehe. Stock gears, I still get 17-20 MPG.

mmmmmmm BEEFY... THose are sweet,,, If I can stuff those under my runner with minimal work, I may have to go the 33's for the $608 and free shipping they would cost. $596+$80(s/h)=$676 for BFG MT's of the same size at tire rack.

Oly884, or anyone have any ending results, comments on running the 255/85/16's on their tacoma? I am new here, have an 02 , 4 door, 4x4, stock wheels, lifted 2.5" with sway away adjustable coil overs, add a leaf in rear. Looking for quick responses. Quoted $1150 roughly for the coopers installed at discount, Sears says $960 online... Help, want to know what you think. Any complaints....?

I have one for sale

I have one 255/85-16 Discoverer S/T for sale (it was a spare). 3 years old, never been on the ground. Asking $75. E-mail me if interested. I travel frequently between Tucson and San Diego, so I can deliver/meet within a reasonable distance of that route.
