Man, the wiring part of that might be a pain. All the emission garbage has really complicated things on the newer vehicles. If I remember right the fuel pump and sending unit are all one unit and it has sensors that check for tank pressurizing ect.... Do you know if it has an egr vavle? I know the 04 4.3 engine w/ X engine code doesn't but, it relies on the 2 cats and 3 o2 sensors to meet emissions but having an advanced warm. Even the wiring for the dash guages is complicated going through the bcm. I'm curious as to how it will turn out and if you can get a harness and ecu for the swap. If it does work the 5.3 is a great engine for both power and economy! A Toy with one of those would haul a$$!

I did a little research after the last post I made and found a couple places sell stand alone ecu's and harnesses for hot rod type applications. I think it was coppco.com even sold extras like vss and egr block offs. Also found out you can buy a complete engine, harness, and ecu ready to drop in from gm performance parts so looks like there's lots of stuff out there for 5.3 swap!

I'm surprised more people aren't doing this. Look in this forum for metric ass-tons on info on this type engine: http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/conver...de-1500-a.html
That particular thread I linked is full of great stuff. That guys has done a lot of swaps. I have been considering a 5.3 for my 94 'runner. The 3vze is pretty long in the tooth, and I don't find it all that easy to work on. If you could get the accessory drive from a fwd application like a grand prix gxp or impala ss, it would probly leave room for a puller fan.

Mega Squirt can build any computer that you want. Also tpichips.com can do the same. Good Luck! Im putting a 383 stroker with a TPI from a Corvette and using the Mega Squirt.
